摘要： In a machine-implemented method of local dimming a light source of a light source block for driving the light source block to provide a plurality of image regions with light, duty ratios of a first light source and a second light source adjacent to the first light source are initially determined by using a first target luminance value of a first image region closest to the first light source and a second target luminance value of a second image region closest to the second light source. The initially determined duty ratios are compensated by using a target luminance value of a remaining image region excluding the first and second image regions among the image regions receiving the light generated from the first and second first light sources. The first and second first light sources are driven by using the compensated duty ratios.

摘要： A backlight unit assembly includes a surface light source with a plurality of first electrode lines extending in a first direction, a plurality of second electrode lines and a plurality of discharge blocks defined in regions where the first and second electrode lines cross each other, respectively; a memory stores discharge/non-discharge data; a luminance calculator calculates luminances of a selected region based on an image signal; and a dimming controller outputs dimming control signals corresponding to the calculated luminances by using the discharge/non-discharge data stored in the memory. A first driving signal is transmitted to one of the first electrode lines, a second driving signal having a different waveform from the first driving signal is transmitted to another of the first electrode lines adjacent the above first electrode line, and a driving voltage is applied to one of the second electrodes lines that crosses the above two first electrode lines.

摘要： A fluorescent lamp includes a lamp body, a fluorescent layer and a discharge electrode. The lamp body has a discharge space in which ultraviolet light is generated. The fluorescent layer is formed on an inner surface of the lamp body to change the ultraviolet light into visible light. The discharge electrode is on an end portion of the lamp body to apply a voltage to the discharge space. A ratio of intensities of the visible light at wavelengths of about 545 nm and about 516 nm is about 1.32:1 to about 1.71:1. Therefore, color reproducibility and luminance may be improved.

A backlight assembly according to the present invention includes a body, a phosphor film formed on an inside of the body, and an afterglowing material film formed on the outside of the body. Accordingly, a dark starting time can be shortened by improving a lamp starting performance of a light source.
