摘要： A digital video format converter and method therefor includes a first and second converter. The first converter receives a digital video signal and converts, in the frequency domain, inter-coded pictures in the digital video signal into intra-coded pictures. The first converter performs motion compensation in the frequency domain on the inter-coded pictures in the digital video signal to convert the inter-coded pictures into intra-coded pictures. The second converter down converts output of the first converter. Further signal processing then completes placing the digital video signal output by the second converter in a format acceptable to standard lower definition digital decoders.

摘要： A digital video decoder and method therefor receives a digital video signal and performs motion compensation on the digital video signal in the frequency domain. The motion compensation is performed by forming, for each inter-coded picture in the digital video signal, a composite picture in the frequency domain representing a reference picture corresponding to the inter-coded picture, and then adding the composite picture to the corresponding inter-coded picture. Each macro block of the composite picture is formed based on corresponding macro blocks of at least one anchor picture stored in memory. The anchor pictures are stored as compressed bits via quantization and variable length coding of frequency domain blocks to reduce required memory capacity. The synthesis technique employed by the compositor to form the composite macro blocks accounts for both field and frame motion compensation with half-pel accuracy. The intra-coded pictures produced as a result of the motion compensation are then reformatted in a display order.

摘要： A method transcodes groups of macroblocks of a partially decoded input bitstream. The groups of macroblocks include intra-mode and inter-mode macroblocks. Each macroblock includes DCT coefficients, and at least one motion vector. The modes of each group of macroblocks are mapped to be identical only if there is an inter-mode block and an intra-mode macroblock in the group. If any of the macroblocks in the group are mapped, then the DCT coefficients and the motion vector for such mapped macroblocks are modified in accordance with the mapping to generate reduced-resolution macroblock for an output compressed bitstream to compensate for drift.

The modes of inter-mode macroblock are mapped to intra-mode macroblock according to the refresh rate. 摘要： Multiview videos are acquired of a scene with corresponding cameras arranged at poses, such that there is view overlap between any pair of cameras. V-frames are generated from the multiview videos. The V-frames are encoded using only spatial prediction. Then, the V-frames are inserted periodically in an encoded bit stream to provide random temporal access to the multiview videos. Additional view dependency information enables the decoding of a reduced number of frames prior to accessing randomly a target frame for a specified view and time, and decoding the target frame. The method also decodes multiview videos by maintaining a reference picture list for a current frame of a plurality of multiview videos, and predicting each current frame of the plurality of multiview videos according to reference pictures indexed by the associated reference picture list.
