摘要： Techniques are provided for reliably distributing network management information in and ad hoc multi-hop wireless network which includes a number of existing nodes. A first node selects a particular timeslot in a dedicated channel based on the network management information received from the neighbor nodes and determines, via a contention channel, if the particular timeslot is being used by any neighbor nodes of the first node. If the particular timeslot is determined to be unused, then it is assigned to the first node for periodically transmitting network management information.

摘要： A communications network which is capable of effectively and efficiently handling mobility of wireless user terminals between access point nodes of a packet-switched network with minimal overhead and packet loss, and a method for using the same. The communications network employs a packet-switched core network and a plurality of access points coupled to the core network. Each access point is adapted to provide any user terminal with wireless communications access to the core network when that user terminal becomes affiliated with that access point. Each access point, as well as other nodes on the network such as a media server, DNS server and an IP gateway router, includes an address resolution cache which is adapted to store information representative of affiliation between the user terminals and the access points of the network. Each access point is adapted to deliver to the other access points a message indicating that a user terminal has changed its affiliation from another access point to that access point, to enable the other access points and core LAN nodes to update their respective address resolution cache based on the message. Preferably, an access point is adapted to issue the message over the core network as an address resolution request for an address, in particular, an IP protocol address, of the user terminal which has changed its affiliation to that access point.

摘要： A method and system for routing data in a wireless network (400) that enables all nodes (106, 402, 404, 406, 408) to find routes to each other even if the nodes are incapable of operating as a router to route packets received from other nodes (106, 402, 404, 406, 408). The meshed nodes (106, 402) which are capable of performing packet routing act as proxy nodes for their associated non-meshed nodes (STA 13-STA 15) to route packets from their associated non-meshed nodes (STA 13-STA 15) to destination nodes. Some of the meshed nodes further operate as intelligent access points (106) to provide the non-meshed nodes and other meshed nodes with access to other networks, such as the Internet (402).

摘要： A system and method for enabling a mobile user terminal in an ad-hoc packet-switched wireless communications network to selectably operate as a router for other mobile user terminals in the network based on certain criteria. The user terminal comprises a transceiver and a controller. The transceiver is adapted to transmit wireless communications data, such as packetized data, addressed to a destination user terminal, to at least one other user terminal for routing by that other user terminal to the destination user terminal. The controller is adapted to prevent the transceiver from transmitting the wireless communications data to that particular other user terminal based on routing data pertaining to an ability of the other user terminal to route said wireless communications data to the destination user terminal. The user terminal further includes a memory for storing the routing data received from the other user terminal, for example, in the form of routing table information, or from the wireless communications network.

摘要： A first time division multiplex (TDM) time slot is provided which is defined as a bi-directional channel for use in a TDM network including a source node and a destination node. The source node can transmit data to the destination node in a first portion of a first TDM time slot. In one implementation, a second portion of the same first TDM time slot can be reserved for the destination node to transmit information to the source node. The destination node can determine whether the data from the source node has arrived properly, and then transmit an indication message to the source node in the second portion of the same first TDM time slot to indicate whether the data from the source node has arrived properly at the destination node.
