    • In one example, a system includes an oscillator adapted to provide an oscillator signal, a frequency divider adapted to divide the oscillator signal to provide a divided oscillator signal, and a phase-frequency detector adapted to provide phase-frequency detection signals in response to a reference clock signal and the divided oscillator signal. The system also includes a charge pump adapted to provide first output signals in response to the phase-frequency detection signals, a phase detector adapted provide second output signals in response to an incoming data signal and the oscillator signal, and one or more switches adapted to pass the first output signals during a frequency acquisition mode and pass the second output signals during a phase lock mode. The system also includes an active filter adapted to filter the passed first or second output signals. The oscillator is adapted to adjust a frequency of the oscillator signal in response to the filtered first or second output signals.

Also disclosed is a sensor that applies flexchip-mounting techniques in a novel way that creates substantially versatility and cost savings in the resultant fingerprint sensor. Rather than employing a conventional transmitter ring separate from a receiver integrated circuit, the device employs a transceiver integrated circuit, such that the IC is both the transmitter and the receiver of the scanning signals. The device further includes a method for protecting the transceiver device that includes the application of a protective coating to the integrated circuit in advance of assembly of the entire sensor.

The flash memory interface chip incorporates the system for interfacing with flash memory devices, a fingerprint sensor/detector system, and an encryption subsystem for encrypting data being passed to and from the flash memory devices and the host computing device. The device further employs an advanced encryption approach that entails fingerprint decryption and verification on the host computer rather than on the portable memory apparatus. Once verification at the host computer is complete, memory and host functionality is enabled.

The system converts many of the processes needed to convert analog video and audio inputs so that they are displayable by a personal computer from a hardware integrated circuit to a set of software routines. The system combines a simplified hardware front-end interface between the computer and the analog input signals and a very flexible set of software applications running on the host computer. The hardware front end employs an integrated circuit device that is much lower in complexity and cost than the conventional audio/video decoder integrated circuit. The software back end provides performance that is equal to the prior hardware-based systems, while also having the substantial benefit of being upgradable at virtually no cost to respond to changing user requirements and technological evolutions in the decoding arena.

    • The present invention relates to an efficient OPC method of increasing imaging performance of a lithographic process utilized to image a target design having a plurality of features. The method includes the steps of determining a function for generating a simulated image, where the function accounts for process variations associated with the lithographic process; and optimizing target gray level for each evaluation point in each OPC iteration based on this function. In one given embodiment, the function is approximated as a polynomial function of focus and exposure, R(ε, f )=P0+f2·Pb with a threshold of T+Vε for contours, where P0 represents image intensity at nominal focus, f represents the defocus value relative to the nominal focus, ε represents the exposure change, V represents the scaling of exposure change, and parameter “Pb” represents second order derivative images. In another given embodiment, the analytical optimal gray level is given for best focus with the assumption that the probability distribution of focus and exposure variation is Gaussian.
