An electrode comprising the sulfonate-based compound or a chemical reaction product thereof, partially or totally formed on the surface thereof, and an electrochemical device comprising the electrolyte and/or the electrode are also disclosed. The electrochemical device using the sulfonate-based compound containing a cyano group, an isocyanate group, a thiocyanate group and/or an isothiocyanate group as an additive for electrolytes can provide significantly improved high-temperature lifespan characteristics.

    • A shift register which is capable of performing bidirectional scanning is disclosed. The shift register includes first and second voltage input lines to which first and second voltages are input, respectively with the phases of the first and second voltages being opposite to each other; a plurality of stages dependently connected to a plurality of clock signal input lines which input a plurality of clock signals whose phases are sequentially delayed, wherein each stage includes: a scan direction controller to selectively output the first and second voltages thereto, according to first and second start pulses, and for controlling scan direction, a node controller to control voltages of first and second nodes according to a signal output from the scan direction controller, and an output unit to output a clock signal from one of the plurality of clock signal input lines thereto according to the voltage of each of the first and second nodes. The shift register can perform forward and reverse direction scans as first and second voltages whose phases are opposite to one another are selectively output thereto according to output signals from previous and next stages.

    • Disclosed is a shift register capable of mitigating gate bias stress. The shift register, including a plurality of stages, includes an output buffer having a pull-up transistor and two pull-down transistors, each with gates connected to different nodes. One of the two pull-down transistors operates during an even frame portion of an LCD operation; and the other of the two pull-down transistors operates during an odd frame portion of the LCD display operation. Alternating operation of the pull-down transistors substantially mitigates gate stress, and substantially enables the shift register to be fabricated with amorphous silicon.

    • This invention relates to an organic light emitting diode display device that is adaptive for preventing a characteristic change of a device which drives the organic light emitting diode and for securing reliability of the device. The organic light emitting diode display device includes: a pixel array having a plurality of scan lines and a plurality of data lines that cross each other, a plurality of power voltage supply lines to which a high level power supply voltage is supplied and that are substantially parallel to the data lines, a plurality of reset lines substantially parallel to the scan lines, a plurality of organic light emitting diodes that emit light due to the high level power supply voltage from the power voltage supply line, and a plurality of organic light emitting diode drive circuits that drive the organic light emitting diode with data from the data line in response to a scan signal from the scan line and that is initialized in response to a reset signal from the reset line; a scan drive circuit that supplies the scan signal to the scan lines; a reset drive circuit that supplies the reset signal to the reset lines that initializes the organic light emitting diode drive circuit; and a data drive circuit that supplies the data to the data lines respectively, wherein the scan drive circuit and the reset drive circuit are on a substrate including the pixel array.

    • Disclosed herein is an LCD device having a drive area directly formed inside a non-pixel area of a substrate without an additional drive IC. The LCD device includes a first substrate having a pixel area and a non-pixel area disposed peripherally to the pixel area. The pixel area has a thin film transistor and a pixel electrode in each sub-pixel defined by gate and data lines crossing each other. A second substrate formed in opposition to the first substrate includes a color filter layer and a black matrix layer. A liquid crystal layer is formed between the first and second substrates. An opening in the black matrix layer reveals an alignment mark, which is disposed on at least one of the first substrate and the second substrate.

    • A driving unit for a liquid crystal display device is provided. The driving unit includes a first group of driving stages and a second group of driving stages. A first driving stage of the first group receives a first gate start voltage. The first group of driving stages sequentially outputs scan signals according to a first clock signal.
