    • A push button switch for use with an operating key of electronic appliances having a long working stroke, a clear step feeling during the switching operation, and an overstroke after switching is complete. The switch contains a pressure member 17 made of elastic material disposed between the push button 18 and movable contact point 16. As the domed movable contact point 16 is pressed during the switching operation via the pressure member 17, the working stroke of the switch can be made longer for a quantity equivalent to that of the compression deformation in the pressure member 17, before and after the reversal action of the domed movable contact point 16. Also, there is provided a clearance for outward expansion for the top extrusion of the pressure member 17 during compression deformation. Due to the alignment of these components, the possibility of the pressure member 17 and push button 18 dislocating or rattling is minimized. Once the top part of the push button 18 has been pressed with an operating key of the electronic appliance and the switching is complete, the lid 19 of the box-shape case 11 protects the push button 18 and the movable contact point 16 from excessive forces or damage.

    • An optical system according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a reflective imaging element having a first principal face which is struck by light emitted from a display panel, a second principal face parallel to the first principal face, and two mutually-orthogonal specular elements being perpendicular to the first principal face, and causes an image displayed on a display surface of the display panel to form an image at a position of planar symmetry with respect to the reflective imaging element as a plane of symmetry. A transparent substrate which is disposed on at least either the first principal face side or the second principal face side of the reflective imaging element is further included, and first light striking the transparent substrate is linearly polarized light, with a large proportion of p-polarized light.

    • A direct-viewing type display device 100A includes: a display panel which has a display region 10A and a frame region 10F provided outside the display region; and a light-transmitting cover 20 provided on a viewer's side of the display panel. The light-transmitting cover includes a lens portion 22 positioned so as to overlap a region that includes part of the frame region of the display panel and part of a peripheral display region 10D within the display region which adjoins the part of the frame region. The display device further includes a housing 30 which has a housing portion 36 provided at least on a side surface 10b of the display panel. Part of light going out from the part of the peripheral display region and/or part of light entering the housing portion on a rear side goes out on a viewer's side of the housing portion 36.     • A direct-viewing type display device (100) according to the present invention includes a display panel (10) including a display region (10A) which has a plurality of pixel lines (18) extending in a first direction and a frame region (10F), the display region and the frame region having a border extending in the first direction therebetween; and a light-transmitting cover (20). The plurality of pixel lines include a first pixel line (18a) adjoining the border, a second pixel line (18b), and a third pixel line (18c). The first pixel line, the second pixel line and the third pixel line are of different colors from each other. The light-transmitting cover includes a lens portion (22) located so as to stride over the border, the lens portion refracting a part of light, going out from the display region, toward the frame region. A light diffusion structure (60) is provided between the lens portion and a part of the display panel including the first pixel line, the second pixel line and the third pixel line. The present invention provides a display device for visually obscuring the frame region of the display panel and suppressing the sense of unnaturalness given to the viewer.
