摘要： It is a field electron emission film which is able to form a field electron emission film less in the amount of residual gas and stable in the amount of emitted electrons. Because it is formed in thin film, resistivity value of the film within the plane becomes even, and this is a field electron emission film having excellent smoothness, and higher electron emission property. Carbon nanotube structural body of 0.001 to 40% by weight, and a heat decomposition product of 0.01% by weight or more obtained by heat decomposition of a heat-decomposable metal compound are included. Organo-metallic compound, metal salt, organo-metallic salt compound and metal complex are preferable as the heat-decomposable metal compound.

An image data conversion unit is included that converts original image data to be displayed on the display panel unit so that a luminance difference in a low gray level region does not substantially change between before and after conversion and so that a luminance difference in a high gray level region changes in such a manner that a luminance difference obtained after conversion becomes smaller than a luminance difference obtained before conversion. A data holding unit holds predetermined oblique-view image data corresponding to the predetermined viewing angle characteristics of the display panel unit. An image combining unit combines image data obtained through conversion by the image data conversion unit with the predetermined oblique-view image data to generate composite image data. The composite image data is displayed on the display panel unit.

A process for manufacturing an electron emitting device includes a first step of forming an emitter layer 10 containing carbon nanotubes 11 as a fibrous emitter material on a cathode electrode 5, a second step of forming an insulating layer 6 and a gate electrode 7 on the emitter layer 10 through a protection film 22, a third step of forming gate holes 8 in the insulating layer 6 and the gate electrode 7 above the emitter layer 10, and a fourth step of removing the protection film 22, which was exposed by forming the gate holes 8, with a weak acid etchant.
