    • In a transfer method of this invention, a paper powder-removing device having a pair of an insulating roller and an electrically conducting roller is provided on a transfer paper conveyer passage, and a transfer paper is passed through between a pair of the above rollers prior to being fed to a transfer zone (between a transfer roller and a photosensitive material drum). The transfer paper is passed through the pair of rollers in a state where the electrically conducting roller is maintained at a potential of a polarity same as, or opposite to, that of the transfer roller depending upon the position of the electrically conducting roller (position on a side of the transfer surface of the transfer paper or position on a side opposite to the transfer surface) in the paper powder-removing device, in order to reliably remove the paper powder from the transfer paper and to effectively prevent the adhesion of the paper powder on the surface of the photosensitive material drum.

    • A toner supplying device is provided with a container body formed with a toner replenishment opening and adapted to contain toner, a shutter for opening and closing the toner replenishment opening, and an opening/closing structure for causing the shutter to perform opening and closing operations as the container body is mounted into and detached from the apparatus body. The opening/closing structure includes an arm projecting from the shutter in a mounting direction of the container body into the apparatus body and a locking portion attached to the arm. The belt cleaning unit 17 has a fur brush 32 that electrically recovers toner, and recovers residual transfer toner remaining on the intermediate transfer belt 12 after a secondary transfer by the secondary transfer roller 7. The drive roller 13 is disposed in a position in opposition to the fur brush 32 sandwiching the intermediate transfer belt 12, and charges both the fur brush 32 and the secondary transfer roller 7.
