    • A printing plate discharging method and a printing plate discharging device can quickly and reliably discharge a printing plate from a surface plate, which printing plate has been placed in a state wherein one end portion of the printing plate projects from the surface plate, without making an exposed face of the printing plate dirty or scratched. At a discharging mechanism section of an automatic exposure device, a temporary support arm corresponds with the one end portion of the printing plate, which end portion projects from on the surface plate. The temporary support arm is raised higher than the surface plate by a moving stage moving and a roller thereby abutting against a projecting portion of the temporary support arm. Thus, the temporary support arm lifts up the one end portion of the printing plate. In this state, a plate discharging hook engages the one end portion of the printing plate (a lifted portion) and pushes the printing plate toward another end portion of the surface plate. Thus, the printing plate can be discharged from the surface plate.

    • A receiving guide is attached to an upper portion of a discharge mechanism section via a bracket. When a photopolymer plate is discharged from a photopolymer plate conveying section, a leading end portion of the photopolymer plate, which is in a state of hanging down slightly, abuts a flat plate portion of the receiving guide. Thereafter, the receiving guide moves in accordance with movement of the leading end portion of the photopolymer plate. Further, the receiving guide moves forward in a conveying direction of the photopolymer plate immediately before conveying of the photopolymer plate is completed, and the photopolymer plate lands on the surface plate.

    • An image reading apparatus has line sensors for optically reading an image carried on an image placed on a subject table and producing an image signal. The line sensors are displaceable by a piezoelectric device which is mounted on a support base by an attachment unit. The attachment unit has an attachment member including a bottom wall having two threaded holes defined therein that are spaced from each other by a given distance Ld. The attachment unit also has an adjustment member which has a screw insertion hole defined therein and extending from rear to front surfaces thereof for insertion therethrough of a screw for horizontally holding the piezoelectric device, and two positioning oblong holes defined vertically therein for passage therein of bolts threaded respectively in the threaded holes in the bottom wall of the attachment member. The attachment unit allows the piezoelectric device to have its projection length adjustable with ease, and also to be replaced independently with a new one, for thereby dispensing with repeated optical positional adjustments, increasing the quality of reproduced images, and reducing the cost of the image reading apparatus.
