    • A steering mechanism control system is provided with a steering angle ratio varying device, a steering angle determining section, a steering state determining section, a steering reaction force control device and a characteristic setting section. The steering angle ratio varying device controls a ratio of a steered angle of a steerable wheel with respect to a steering input angle in accordance with a steering angle characteristic. The steering angle determining section determines the steering input angle resulting from a steering operation. The steering state determining section determines a steering state based on the steering input angle. The steering reaction force control device controls a steering reaction force in accordance with a reaction force characteristic. The characteristic setting section selectively sets the steering angle characteristic and the reaction force characteristic based on the steering state determined by the steering state determining section.

    • A receiver apparatus for a television broadcasting wave includes a channel selection decision section configured to decide channel selection based on an intermediate frequency signal of a television broadcasting wave of a selected channel obtained by frequency conversion using a local oscillation signal. The channel selection decision section includes a frequency component extraction circuit and a decision section. The frequency component extraction circuit is configured to extract a frequency component to be used for the decision of channel selection including a frequency component within a band of the intermediate frequency signal. The decision section is configured to decide the presence/absence of a television broadcasting wave of the selected channel based on the level value of the frequency component extracted by the frequency component extraction circuit to perform decision of channel selection.

    • An encoder has a detector that detects displacement of a movable portion and a generator that generates multiple phase periodic signals with at least three different phases. The phase periodic signals change according to the displacement and a selector selects one of the multiple phase periodic signals to which a predetermined offset is added. In one encoder arrangement, a light beam is radiated toward a scale on which a grating is formed along a relative displacement direction. A light-receiving element receives light modulated by the grating to obtain relative displacement information between the light beam and the scale. The light receiving element has an opening width that changes in a direction perpendicular to the displacement direction.
