摘要： To provide low-overpotential electrodes for an electrochemical cell including a proton-conductive electrolyte and an electrochemical cell including the electrodes. The following reaction occurs at the interface between a gas phase and an anode 3: H2→2H++2e− At this time, the resultant protons (H+) and electrons (e−) exist in the anode 3. The subsequent electrode reaction is completed after the protons travel to an electrolyte 2 and the electrons travel to a lead 5. The reverse reaction occurs at a cathode 4 to generate hydrogen gas.

摘要： A CO.sub.2 gas sensor using a solid reference electrode in combination with a lithium ion conductive solid electrolyte which is at dissociative equilibrium with CO.sub.2 gas, characterized in that the solid reference electrode is made of a lithium containing, mixed transition metal oxide conductor which is of the same conduction type as the solid electrolyte. Further, the solid electrolyte comprises a complex carbonate containing LiAlO.sub.2 as an aggregate. Furthermore, a mixed electrode is used for the solid-electrolyte type gas sensor, which is prepared by the steps of: mixing a Au powder or paste with a powder of an oxide excluding Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 ; rendering a resultant mixture to a paste; applying the paste onto a solid electrolyte; and sintering the applied paste.

摘要： In a CO gas sensor composed of a CO gas sensing electrode 3 being made of Au or an Au alloy and a reference electrode 2 electrically connected to at least part of a surface of a solid electrolyte having an oxygen ion transfer property, which is superior in CO gas selectivity, in particular, reducing the affect of the co-existing oxygen to CO, and which works with a high precision at a high temperature, and in a CO gas measuring device using the gas sensor, the gas sensor being capable of determining a CO gas concentration by measuring a electromotive force change due to adsorption/oxidization of the carbon monoxide gas in the sensing electrode 3 when a constant current is caused to flow between the reference electrode 2 and the sensing electrode 3 or a current value caused by the oxidizing reaction of the carbon monoxide gas in the sensing electrode when a voltage is kept constant between the reference electrode 2 and the sensing electrode 3.
