    • A rotary compressor provided with a center housing and side housings, a rotary sleeve mounted for rotation in the housings and a plurality of vanes radially, slidably fitted in a rotor which is eccentrically disposed in the rotary sleeve. The rotary sleeve has its opposite side surfaces formed with a plurality of air-guide grooves. As the rotary sleeve rotates, the air-guide grooves guide air to flow from the compression working space in the rotary sleeve to the air-bearing room between the outer periphery of the rotary sleeve and the inner periphery of the center housing and from the air-bearing room to the suction working space in the rotary sleeve so that an air film is formed in each of the both side clearances between the both side surfaces of the rotary sleeve and the inner surfaces of both side housings.

    • A rotary compressor is provided with a rotary sleeve mounted in a center housing for rotation with a plurality of vanes movable in a rotor which is eccentrically disposed in the rotary sleeve. An air-bearing room is defined between the outer periphery of the rotary sleeve and the inner periphery of the center housing and supplied with air through an inlet internally connected to the discharge chamber or compression working space under the maximum pressure. A multiplicity of air-accumulating grooves are formed in either or both in the outer periphery of the rotary sleeve and the inner periphery of the center housing.The air-accumulating groove is composed of a suction portion gradually inclined from the peripheral direction and a compression portion sharply inclined from or perpendicular to the peripheral direction. The inlet is peripherally alined with the suction portion of each air-accumulating groove, so that air is guided to the suction portion and compressed in the compression portion of the groove to increase the bearing effect of the air-bearing room.

    • Apparatus in a vane type rotary compressor for floatingly supporting a rotary sleeve which is mounted in a center housing for rotation with a plurality of vanes movable in a rotor, the apparatus comprising an air-bearing room defined between the inner periphery of the center housing and the outer periphery of the rotary sleeve and supplied with the maximum-pressure or discharge-pressure air through an air-supply passage extending from the discharge chamber or compression working space under the maximum pressure. The air-supply passage is formed with an accumulator for reducing the pulsations and/or temperature of the supplied air. The accumulator is composed of either or both of a relatively large hollow in the thickened wall of the center housing and a plurality of fine bores and alternative grooves forming a S-shaped hole in the suction side wall.

    • In a small reciprocating pump, an annular space is provided between a cylinder and a cylinder block. The cylinder is bifurcated at its upper end, and has two projecting edges. One of these projecting edges is radially outwardly spaced apart from the other, and greater in length than the other. A cylinder head has a lower surface provided with an annular groove in which the outer projecting edge of the cylinder is engaged. A seal ring is disposed in this annular groove, and another seal ring between the projecting edges of the cylinder to maintain the cylinder in gastight contact with the cylinder head. The other seal ring also serves to support a metal plate which forms therein a valve. The cylinder head is provided with an intake passage having an intake valve, and a discharge passage having a discharge valve. The cylinder block is connected to a crank case in a gastight fashion. A crankshaft is supported rotatably in the crank case for reciprocating a piston in the cylinder.
