    • A transmission medium connecting device is used for connecting multiple bus type transmission media. The connecting device includes an apparatus information list containing information related to apparatuses connected to the bus type transmission media. The connecting device collects the apparatus information of each of the apparatuses, and prepares the apparatus information list. Also included are a packet receiver for receiving a packet transmitted from the transmission media and a packet transmitter for transmitting a packet to the transmission media. An apparatus connected to the bus type transmission media may request access to the apparatus information list and read out information from the apparatus information list regarding another apparatus to be communicated with.

    • A serial bus control apparatus is disclosed. The apparatus includes a device for providing a reservation control table for reserving a transmission bandwidth and a transmission channel used at a future time on a serial bus. The reservation control table is organized such that transmission of data of certain bandwidth and channel at a certain future time can be reserved for a transmission between arbitrary nodes. The reservation control table is stored and controlled on a first register. The register is accessible for reading and writing from an arbitrary node on the serial bus. The apparatus may further include a detection part to detect present time and a second and third register for securing available transmission bandwidth and channel at present time. By having this reservation control table, it becomes possible for each node on the serial bus to secure transmission of data of certain bandwidth and transmission channel in a desired future time.

    • The instant application describes a stereoscopic video processing system that includes a vector detector configured to detect a motion vector associated with frames of an input video signal; an output image generator configured to generate an output video signal by generating interpolation frames, and arranging the frames of the input video signal and the interpolation frames along a time axis; an output controller configured to control interpolation phases associated with the interpolation frames; and a feature amount calculator configured to calculate a feature amount in image regions of the frames of the input video signal used for generating the interpolation frames. The output image generator is configured to generate the interpolation frames by generating an interpolation image in an image region having the feature amount larger than a threshold and by using the input video signals without change in other image regions.

    • A polishing apparatus comprises a polishing plate (24), an abrasive cloth (25) attached to the surface of the polishing plate (24), a chuck (19) for holding and pressing one surface of a wafer (39) against the abrasive cloth (25), and a circular retaining ring (23) concentrically arranged on the periphery of the chuck (19). The retaining ring (23) is rotatable and vertically movable with respect to the chuck (19), and is pressed against the abrasive cloth (25) during the lapping step. The retaining ring (23) is lifted upward during the final polishing step, thereby preventing lapping grains from being brought into the final polishing stage. Accordingly, lapping and final polishing can be successively conducted using the same polishing head. With this structure, cost cutting of the apparatus can be realized, since lapping and final polishing are successively conducted using the same polishing head without bringing the lapping grains used for lapping into the final polishing stage.
