摘要： A display apparatus includes a display panel including pixels arranged in a matrix, pixel electrodes provided to the pixels, respectively, a common electrode provided commonly to the pixels, and scanning lines and signal lines for supplying a voltage to the pixel electrodes. In addition, a drive circuit is connected to the common electrode, the scanning lines, and the signal lines, and a control circuit provides a signal to the drive circuit. The control circuit selectively switches between a display drive mode in which an image is displayed on the display panel through sequential scanning of the scanning lines and application of a variable voltage to pixels via the signal lines by the drive circuit and a rewriting drive mode in which selected pixels are rewritten into black or white through application of a voltage, which is higher than a range of the variable voltage, to the selected pixels on a scanning line selected by the drive circuit.

In the first drawing step, an image is drawn by a reset drive for resetting a previous display image and a writing drive for writing an image, and in the second drawing step, the writing drive of a minimum or a substantially maximum luminance is performed without effecting the reset drive only in an area in which the handwritten image is written.

The drive circuit has a correction function of correcting a signal voltage depending on an image data in current image writing, at the time of image writing to the display panel, on the basis of a signal voltage in preceding image writing and an elapsed time from the preceding image writing, thereby to apply the corrected signal voltage to the signal lines.

In addition, the control circuit varies the length of a period for which the currents are supplied from the drive circuits connected to the selected lighting lines to the light emitting devices every time the light emitting scanning is performed at least twice.

To each pixel, corresponding R image signal wiring, G image signal wiring, and B image signal wiring, are connected. Wirings are arranged so that the resistance or the capacitance of each image signal wiring differs every color of corresponding pixels, and by this, the rise times of the signal for R, G and B will be substantially equal to each other. The resistance value is changed by adjusting the width, the thickness, or the specific resistance of the material of the image signal wiring, or the capacitance is changed by adjusting the thickness of the insulator or the relative dielectric constant of the material while sandwiching an insulator between the image signal wiring and a scanning wiring at the intersection of them.
