    • During the growth and study of NSCs, a range of molecules present on the surface of multipotent neural stem and progenitor cells (NSCs) were identified. These markers were identified using a number of human and murine neural stem cell lines, including retinal stem cells (RSCs). The NSC-specific markers identified included gene products as well as non-protein molecules and sugar epitopes not directly coded in the genome. Together with surface markers which were determined to be absent from the surface of hNSCs, the molecules described herein provide a means to enrich for neural stem cells, or neural progenitor subpopulations, particularly using combinatorial cell sorting strategies. These same molecules also represent targets for pharmacological manipulation of NSC populations and subpopulations, both in vivo and ex vivo. Furthermore, these molecules provide potential targets for therapeutic manipulation of other neural precursor-related cell types including malignant conditions as well as other diseases originating from, or preferentially affecting, various uncommitted or replication-competent cell types.

    • An apparatus for separating solids, such as scrap material, from a gas such as an air stream. The apparatus includes a horizontally mounted outer cylinder or drum and an inner perforated cylindrical member is mounted concentrically within the drum to provide an annular space therebetween. High velocity air containing scrap material is delivered through one or more tangential inlets to the annular space and the heavy scrap material is thrown outwardly by centrifugal force along the inner surface of the drum and discharged through a tangential outlet, while the air passes inwardly through the perforated member and is discharged through an axial outlet in the drum. The scrap material being discharged from the separator is fed to the lower end of a closed, inclined auger and conveyed upwardly and discharged into a surge tube of a baler where the scrap is converted into bales.

    • An enterprise integration system is coupled to a number of legacy data sources. The data sources each use different data formats and different access methods. The integration system includes a back-end interface configured to convert input data source information to input XML documents and to convert output XML document to output data source information. A front-end interface converts the output XML documents to output HTML forms and the input HTML forms to the XML documents. A middle tier includes a rules engine and a rules database. Design tools are used to define the conversion and the XML documents. A network couples the back-end interface, the front-end interface, the middle tier, the design tools, and the data sources. Mobile agents are configured to communicate the XML documents over the network and to process the XML documents according to the rules.
