    • Tornado flow separator for the thermal treatment of fine-grain or granular material with at least one gaseous medium, including a cylindrical reaction chamber having a surface, two ends and at least first, second and third treatment zones of substantially equal length through which the material passes after given dwelling time, tangential feeding means for the gaseous media being disposed in the surface of the reaction chamber in the treatment zones for setting the dwelling time of the material in the third treatment zone to be at least twice as long as the dwelling time in each of the first and second treatment zones, at least one inclined tangential material feed disposed in vicinity of one of the ends of the reaction chamber, at least one outlet for treatment material disposed in vicinity of the others of the ends of the reaction chamber, and an exhaust pipe for at least one of excess and spent gaseous media being axially extended into the reaction chamber from along side the material outlet and having a free opening in vicinity of the third treatment zone.

    • In a tornado-flow vortex generator for separating particulates from gases, having a cylindrical vortex chamber, an inlet tube for raw gas coaxially disposed in the vortex chamber and terminating in a nozzle for providing an advance rotation in a flow of the raw gas therethrough, a hopper diaphragm surrounding the inlet tube and formed, in vicinity of the vortex-chamber casing, with an annular particulate-discharge slot communicating with a space within a hopper, a clean-gas outlet disposed in the vortex chamber spaced from and opposite the raw-gas inlet tube, an auxiliary-gas outlet surrounding the clean-gas outlet, and an auxiliary-gas inlet disposed at the vortex-chamber casing for blowing auxiliary gas into the vortex chamber at an inclination and tangentially to the casing thereof and connected by a blower to the auxiliary-gas outlet, the improvement includes a line having valve means and connecting the hopper space with a location of the vortex generator at which a pressure exists which is lower than the pressure in the hopper space.

    • An arrangement for improved energy recovery in the pure gas outlet of a centrifugal separator which includes a cylindrical centrifugal chamber with a coaxial raw gas inlet at one end and a coaxial pure gas outlet at the other end and which is equipped with tangential auxiliary gas inlets in the region of the periphery of the centrifugal chamber inclined at an angle with respect to the raw gas outlet with a particle outlet concentrically surrounding the raw gas inlet, in which the pure gas outlet is conically flared and opens with its larger end into a cylindrical, closed ring chamber which includes a cover plate opposite the open outlet tube. A radially extending plate of a diameter smaller than that of the cylindrical ring chamber is attached to the larger, open end of the conical outlet tube and an aerodynamic body in the shape of a circular cone protrudes from the cover plate into the opened conical outlet tube.
