    • The present invention proposes a method for performing a relocation procedure for a user equipment (UE) communicating in a communication network and being movable therein, said communication network comprising at least two serving nodes (SGSN1, SGSN2) of a core network of said communication network, each of which serving nodes being connected to at least one access network controller (RNC1, RNC2) of a access network of said communication network, each of which access network controllers being adapted to perform a communication with said user equipment (UE) within its coverage area, and each serving node being assigned to a respective routing area (RA1, RA2), said method comprising the steps of monitoring (S100) the occurrence of a relocation condition, deciding (S200), whether said relocation condition is an inter serving node relocation condition, switching (S400) the communication from a first access network controller (RNC1) of a first serving node (SGSN1) to a second access network controller (RNC2) of a second serving node (SGSN2), when the decision in said decision step (S200) is positive; maintaining (S600) the control of communication in the core network anchored in the first serving node (SGSN1) while the communication connection is in a first state (S500); and changing (S700) the control of communication in the core network to the second serving node (SGSN2), when a changing condition is detected (S500). The present invention also proposes a corresponding system and network element.

    • A method for indicating a mobile station's (MS) location. A first radio network controller, RNC, acts as the mobile station's serving RNC (SRNC), for reporting the mobile station's location to the core network (CN). A second RNC acts as the mobile station's drift RNC (DRNC), for maintaining a radio connection with the mobile station. In response to fulfillment of at least one criterion in a first set of criteria, the mobile station (MS) sends location information about its location to the second RNC (DRNC) which forwards the location information to the first RNC (SRNC) for reporting to the core network (CN). There is also a second set of criteria for transforming the location information. In response to fulfillment of at least one criterion in the second set, the first RNC (SRNC) sends falsified information about the mobile station's location to the core network (CN).

Within a certain time, the terminal determines the detected control signalling needs and transmits a request for maintaining a radio connection to the telecommunication network if several control signallings are to be carried out. The control signallings are carried out successively between the terminal and one or more core networks without releasing the radio connection between the terminal and the access network.

    • A method, a system, or an article of manufacture provides Mobility Management (MM), for example, an update procedure, in a Core Network (CN) of a mobile communication system. The Mobile Station (MS) includes an indicator which defines an update type. The update type includes: all CN entities; one type of CN entity only. If the indicator has the update type of all CN entities, the MS registers all CN entities. If the indicator has the update type of one type of CN entity only, the MS registers the one type of CN entity only. The CN entities may be MSC/NVLR CN entity, SGSN CN entity, or other CN entity. The method includes the MS determining to which of the CN entity to perform the update procedure; the MS updating the CN entity; the CN acknowledging the MS whether update is successful or failed; and the CN acknowledging the MS whether update of other CN entity is needed, if needed, the CN defining to which of the CN entity to perform update, and continuing the update of the defined CN entity. The MS does not have to know the services subscribed to a user, nor does the MS have to know the configuration of the CN.
