摘要： A communications system connected via a bus capable of transmitting multiplexed packets of control signals and AV signals while providing an environment, which is the same as an environment where connections are made using analog signal lines. A register with a fixed address is taken to be a virtual plug for each of a plurality of equipment. When the plug enable for the input plug is set to 1, an isochronous communication packet for the AV signal on the channel set by the channel number is received. When the plug enable for the output plug is set to one and the isochronous communication packet for the information signal is sent on the channel, then the channel number is set in the channel number field at a transmission speed designated by the DR (Data Rate) field at the bandwidth presented in the bandwidth field.

摘要： By making the most of the master and slave roles, the master device becomes the system controller to manage the control functions of the slave devices in a piconet. For one slave device to control another slave device, the controlling slave device issues a command to the master device, which transfers the received command to the controlled slave device. Each slave device control other slave devices in a piconet without being aware of other slave devices except the master device. Consequently, commands may be exchanged between the slave devices in a piconet which is constituted by one master device and a plurality of slave devices.

摘要： An information processing apparatus is connected to another information processing apparatus via a network and has at least one sub-unit for executing a predetermined function. A reservation is made for causing a tuner sub-unit of an IRD to receive a predetermined channel broadcast at a predetermined time and to record it on a VCR sub-unit of a DVCR via an IEEE-1394 serial data bus. Then, a controller of the IRD writes reservation information into a Resource Schedule Board (RSB) built into a Bulletin Board Subunit (BBS) of the IRD and also writes reservation information of the VCR sub-unit into a RSB built into a BBS of the DVCR. With this arrangement, double-booking is prevented.

摘要： In a home audio visual network including a plurality of devices coupled via an IEEE 1394 bus, a system for accessing a media drive mechanism of a multi-item-type media player. The multi-item-type media player can play any type of disc media item. A media drive mechanism is included within the mutli-item-type media player and is configured to play or record the media item stored within the multi-item-type media player. A computer system is built-in to the multi-item-type media player. A software based media player model executes on the computer system, and in turn, causes the computer system to implement a method of accessing the media drive mechanism. In so doing, the computer system interfaces with a plurality of devices coupled to the multi-item media player via an IEEE 1394 communications link of an IEEE 1394 based network and provides a standardized command set for the media drive mechanism. The media player model provides a set of standardized commands that allow the plurality of devices on the network to access the media drive mechanism and thereby access the installed media item and control the functionality of the media drive mechanism.

摘要： In a home audio visual network including a plurality of devices coupled via an IEEE 1394 bus, a system for accessing a media changer mechanism of a multi-item media player. The multi-item media player stores a plurality of media items and can play any of the plurality of media items. A media changer mechanism having a plurality of slots for storing the plurality of media items is included within the multi-item media player. A computer system is built into the multi-item media player. A software based media changer model executes on the computer system, and in turn, causes the computer system to implement a method of accessing the media changer mechanism. In so doing, the computer system interfaces with a plurality of devices coupled to the multi-item media player via an IEEE 1394 communications link of an IEEE 1394 based network and provides a standardized command set for the media changer mechanism. The media changer model provides a set of standardized commands that allow the plurality of devices on the network to access the media changer mechanism and access any of the plurality of media items stored therein.

Thereafter, the tapes of the reproducing VTR and the recording VTR are rewound from their editing points by a predetermined time T, and then kept to a pause state. Subsequently, when a nominal time X for releasing the pause of the reproducing VTR and the recording VTR is specified, the reproducing VTR and the recording VTR actually receive the control signal to release from pause at a time of X-D1 and a time of X-D2 respectively, and the recording VTR is so controlled as to start its recording operation at a time of X+T.
