    • Isolated Dynamic-Current (“Dyna-C”) converters are converters that convert incoming 3-phase AC or DC power to a mix of DC and AC power via an isolation link. In various embodiments, the isolation link is a high-frequency isolation transformer. Isolated Dyna-C converters may provide a high-frequency galvanic isolation and are able to convert three-phase AC power to three-phase AC power, or three-phase AC power to DC and vice versa. The topology is minimal and the costs are low. Isolated Dyna-C converters provide fast current responses and keep the losses low by using a simplified two-stage conversion and providing a magnetizing current that is dynamically controllable and tailored to the load. An isolated Dyna-C converter may synthesize currents at its input or output ports with an arbitrary phase that is relative to the grid or load voltages, thereby enabling a full independent control over the active and reactive power at its ports.

    • A method and apparatus for utilizing a matrix to store numerical comparisons is disclosed. In one embodiment, an apparatus includes an array in which results of comparisons are stored. The comparisons are performed between numbers associated with agents (or functional units) that have access to a shared resource. The numbers may be a value to indicate a priority for their corresponding agents. The comparison results stored in an array may be generated based on comparisons between two different numbers associated with two different agents, and may indicate the priority of each relative to the other. When two different agents concurrently assert requests for access to the shared resource, a control circuit may access the array to determine which of the two has the higher priority. The agent having the higher priority may then be granted access to the shared resource.

    • The present invention discloses a service protection method and device based on an automatic switched optical network (ASON), which are adapted to restoring a service when a fault occurs in the connection of the service. The method comprises: comparing a dynamic restoration lag time of the service with a protection switching lag time of the service; and starting a protection switching process to restore the service if the dynamic restoration lag time is greater than the protection switching lag time; and starting a dynamic re-routing process to restore the service if the protection switching lag time is greater than the dynamic restoration lag time. By the present invention, the reliability of the network is enhanced and the self-healing capacity of the ASON is improved.
