    • A casted concrete block surface-roughing machine having an in-line conveyor displaceable over a stationary horizontal support surface for slidingly supporting a lower surface of concrete blocks displaced thereon by the conveyor. At least two pairs of spaced-apart vertically supported conveyor belts are disposed to engage opposed side faces of the concrete blocks to displace them along the stationary horizontal support surface. One of the pairs of the conveyor belts engages the opposed side faces in a lower surface section thereof to expose an upper surface section thereof to be abraded by respective surface abrading devices. The other of the pairs of conveyor belts engage the opposed side faces in the upper surface section of the concrete block to expose the lower surface section thereof to be abraded by further respective surfaces abrading devices.

    • A concrete stone texturing machine, method and a stone having an irregular rough surface resembling a real stone face is described. The machine conveys concrete stones having opposed flat surfaces to a pitching station having at least one pair of opposed pitching blade assembles aligned in a common plane on a respective side of the pitching station. The pitching blade assemblies are displaced towards and away from one another a predetermined distance. Each assembly has a plurality of pitching blades secured in side-by-side aligned relationship. Each of the pitching blades has a forward projecting cutting edge and a securing body portion. A first group of the pitching blades has their cutting edges aligned along a first straight cutting axis which is offset from the cutting edges of the second group of pitching blades aligned along a second straight cutting axis. The cutting axes are parallel to one another. With the offset cutting edges a unique appearance of the pitched blocks surface is obtained when the pitching blades are forced to penetrate a predetermined distance in an associated one of the surrounding transverse faces of the block adjacent a surface to be pitched.

    • A wall construction block for the construction of earth retaining walls includes a pair of spaced-part transverse pin receiving channels in the end walls of the block and disposed parallel to one another along respective longitudinal axis of the block which are parallel with a front face of the block. The pin receiving channels extend transverse from a top surface to a bottom surface of the block and are of substantially uniform cross-section throughout. Arresting pin elements are received in sliding fit within some of the receiving channels and are retained captive therein. Elongated parallel grooves are provided on a top surface of the block and extend across the end walls and parallel to the front wall. One of the groove is aligned between a first set of the pin receiving channels and the other of the parallel grooves is offset a predetermined distance between the other set of pin receiving channels. When the blocks are disposed in rows one on top of one another, with the top wall of the block facing upwards, the rows of blocks are arrested from transverse shifting by positioning arresting pin elements in selected ones of the sets of transverse pin receiving channels. The pins extend out of the bottom wall of the uppermost block and into a selected one of the pair of grooves in a top surface of the lower block.

    • A casted concrete stone having opposed parallel surfaces formed in a mold and wherein the opposed parallel surfaces have a molded textured surface. The concrete stone is fabricated by a dry-cast concrete mold wherein a profiling plate is provided with mold bottom wall formations each having a textured outer surface. A bond release film or spray or permanent coating is provided on the textured outer surface of the mold bottom wall formations. Mold forming side walls are disposed about the mold bottom wall formations. After the mold is filled with a dry-cast concrete mixture a top plate, having mold top wall formations, is disposed over the mold forming side walls with the mold top wall formations disposed inside respective ones of the molds to close the molds. Pressure and vibration is applied to compact the dry-cast concrete whereby to form a dry-cast concrete stone with opposed molded textured surfaces.

    • A pre-cast cobblestone (10) is comprised of a concrete body (11) of substantially rectangular outline and having a top and bottom wall (13-14) and opposed side walls (15). The top wall (13) is embossed and the side walls (15) have longitudinally shaped flat side surfaces (15'). At least two of the side walls have spaced-apart protruding sections (16-17, 18-19) of irregular transverse cross-section which are aligned with straight intersecting outer parallel axes (12-12') of the side walls. The side walls (15) also have recessed sections (19) of irregular transverse cross-section defined between the protruding sections. When the cobblestones (10) are laid on a support surface in substantially straight aligned relationship to define a pavement (22), they are offset end-to-end and irregularly interlocked by some of the protruding sections (16, 17, 18, 19) of some of the cobblestones entering into the irregular recessed sections (19) of other of the cobblestones to prevent shifting of the cobblestones in the pavement (22).

    • An anchor adapted for providing retention strength to a retaining formed of a plurality of superimposed blocks having opposed faces adapted to lie one on top of another. One of the faces, of at least some of the blocks, has a longitudinal channel therein disposed spaced from a rear wall thereof and extending along a longitudinal axis of the block.
