    • The invention relates to a power control method in a mobile communications system in which transmission of a signal of one logical connection over the radio path employs hopping, such as frequency hopping, antenna hopping or timeslot hopping. According to the present invention, the method is characterized in that the quality of the signal received on the radio connection is determined on one hopping setting, such as frequency, antenna or timeslot, and the power control is carried out on the radio connection in question from hopping setting to hopping setting so that the transmission power of at least one hopping setting, such as frequency, differs from the transmission power of at least one other hopping setting, such as frequency, used on the same radio connection.

    • System and methods for improved uplink signal detection where when a mobile device detects signaling indicating the presence of a packet for that mobile device from a network node, the mobile device may transmit one or more NACKs in a sub-frame before the one in which the mobile device would transmit the normal ACK/NACK for the packet. Additionally, the mobile device may transmit one or more NACKs in the sub-frame immediately following the normal ACK/NACK for a packet (unless a packet was transmitted in the immediately following sub-frame and successfully decoded by the mobile device, in which case an ACK would obviously be transmitted). Therefore, extra uplink (UL) interference is eliminated. Moreover, the amount that a network node must offset its ACK/NACK decision threshold is significantly reduced. This results in a reduction of required ACK power by a mobile device.

    • The invention relates to a method for load control and a radio system. In the invention a load result describing the load is cell-specifically formed. The load result is formed either by comparing a signal strength of desired signals (23) and a combined total strength of interferences (13) and the desired signals (23) or by weighting a signal-to-interference ration with a bandwidth or a data transmission rate. The load result is compared with a threshold value of the highest load level allowed of a cell (1). The data transmission rate in the cell (1) is increased if the load result is smaller than the threshold value. The data transmission rate in the cell (1) is reduced and the establishment of new connections is avoided if the load result exceeds the threshold value. In heavy load situations a signal-to-interference objective is also changed in order to balance the load result.

    • A communications system where data blocks from a communications device are received at least in a serving site over a wireless interface. The serving site typically checks whether data blocks have been correctly received and sends acknowledgement information to the communications device accordingly. An assisting site may also receive the data blocks and send information indicating whether data blocks have been correctly received in the assisting site. In this case, the serving site may request erroneously received information from the assisting site. Alternatively, the assisting site may send information indicating erroneous reception of data blocks in response to noticing a data block sent by the communications device. As a further alternative, the assisting site may be synchronized with the data blocks sent by the communications device and send quality information relating to the wireless interface between the communications device and the assisting site to the serving site.
