摘要： A method for repairing a high solid metallic coating on car bodies which involves applying at the area to be repaired an undercoat composition based on the same coating composition as used in the baked high solid metallic coating and with specified amounts of melamine resin and isocyanate compound added, the melamine resin having imino and methylol groups and the sum of the imino groups and methylol groups per triazine ring being 2.3 to 3.3, applying onto the undercoat a two-package urethane clear top coat composition on a wet-on-wet basis and finally drying the coats at 80.degree. C. or less.

摘要： A method for forming a chipping-resistant film, a chipping resistant composition and coated articles containing the chipping-resistant film are disclosed. The method includes applying a water-based chipping-resistant composition in either (1) a coating process including electrodeposition, intermediate coating, and topcoating to form (a) a film disposed between an electrodeposited film and an intermediate-coated film, or (b) a film disposed between an intermediate-coated film and a topcoated film; or (2) a coating process including electrodeposition coating and topcoating to form (c) a film disposed between an electrodeposited film and a topcoated film. The water-based, chipping-resistant composition includes: (A) a modified ethylenical polymer which is obtained from an ethylene monomer and an ethylenically unsaturated monomer containing a carboxyl group and which has been made water-dispersible by the addition of a base, and in which at least the backbone of the ethylenical polymer molecule has carboxyl groups bonded thereto and derived from the ethylenically unsaturated monomer, the total amount of the carboxyl groups being not less than 10% by weight based on the amount of the ethylenical polymer; and (B) a water-based polyurethane resin, where the proportion of component (A) to component (B) is from 10/90 to 50/50 by weight.

摘要： A method of forming a coating film, involving the steps of: (i) forming an electrodeposition coat on a substrate; (ii) forming thereon an impact resistant primer coat formed of (A) a polyolefin resin grafted with an acid component and (B) a butylated melamine resin, wherein the weight ratio (A/B) of the polyolefin resin to the melamine resin is 90 to 50 parts by weight of the polyolefin resin:10 to 50 parts by weight of the melamine resin; (iii) forming an intermediate coat thereon; and (iv) forming a top coat thereon. A laminated coating film may be obtained by the method disclosed.
