    • Tuning apparatus which is tunable to different broadcast frequencies and including a scale provided with indicia corresponding to such broadcast frequencies and a pointer movable across the scale to indicate the particular broadcast frequency to which the tuning apparatus is tuned. The pointer is supported by a movable support which is guided by a guide shaft. A plurality of markers are slidably guided along at least one guide rail and are individually settable to desired locations adjacent the scale, thereby representing particular broadcast frequencies to which the tuning apparatus is tunable. A key also is slidable along the guide shaft with the movable support, the key being selectively operative to engage a desired one of the markers to move the engaged marker therewith as the support is moved, whereby the marker is set to a desired position by reason of its engagement with the key. Tuning circuitry having a controllable oscillator for generating an oscillating signal whose frequency is variable and determinative of the broadcast frequency to which the tuning apparatus is tuned is enabled to produce an output representing received information when the movable support is moved to an aligned position with a respective one of the markers. Thus, the tuning apparatus can be rapidly tuned to any preset broadcast frequency as represented by the particular marker with which the pointer is aligned.

    • There is described an image forming apparatus, which makes it possible to suppress quality degradation of an image on the basis of a developing electric current profile without optically detecting density of a patch image. The image forming apparatus includes: a developing current detecting sensor to detect a developing current; and a control section that conducts consecutive operations of: creating a detecting-use image pattern for detecting a developing characteristic, by aligning a plurality of image patterns, which are different from each other in density; forming a latent image of the detecting-use image pattern onto the photoreceptor element; finding a developing electric current profile, which represents a transition of the developing electric current flowing during an operation of developing the detecting-use image pattern, from an outputted signal of the developing current; and changing an image forming condition, based on the developing electric current profile found by the finding operation.

    • An image forming apparatus includes: a toner image carrier which carries a toner image thereon; a recording medium selection information input section to which recording medium selection information is inputted to select a recording medium to which the toner image carried on the toner image carrier is transferred; a fog controller which sets a fog control parameter value to control a fogging level of the toner image carrier; and an image forming section which forms the toner image to be carried on the toner image carrier based on the fog control parameter set by the fog controller. The fog controller sets the fog control parameter value so that the fogging level of the toner image carrier when the recording medium selection information inputted corresponds to a coated sheet, is lower than that when the recording medium selection information inputted corresponds to a normal sheet.

    • A developing device has a developing unit to develop an electrostatic latent image formed on an image carrier surface with two-component developer composed of toner and carrier, a toner recycling device to feed toner removed from the image carrier surface by a cleaner back to the developing unit so as to recycle the removed toner, a supply member for supplying fresh toner to the developing device, and a toner concentration controller to control toner concentration in accordance with the result of a comparison between a reference signal that has been set, and a toner concentration of developer determined when the magnetic permeability of developer is detected by a toner concentration detection sensor disposed in the developing device. A drive source of the developing unit and that of the toner recycling device can be individually controlled. When a reference signal for the toner concentration sensor is to be set, a forcible idling operation is started in which the toner recycling device recycles toner to the developing device without the supply of fresh toner to the developing device by the supply member. Alternatively, the reference signal can be set when both the recycling device and supply member are inactive.
