    • An ion print head and image forming apparatus using the same includes at least one discharge cell array structure having microelectrodes to form an electrostatic latent image on an insulation layer of an electrostatic drum by selectively applying charged particles to the insulation layer. The at least one discharge cell is provided with a plurality of discharge elements to emit the charged particles, and a controller to control the plurality of discharge elements. Each of the plurality of discharge elements includes a base, a microelectrode disposed on the base to emit the charged particles toward the insulation layer, and a control electrode spaced apart from the base and having a hole therein through which the emitted charged particles pass and to control the emission of the charged particle from the microelectrode.

    • A light scanning unit, which can prevent contamination using a photocatalytic layer, and an image forming apparatus employing the same. The light scanning unit includes a light source to switch on and off to generate at least one beam that corresponds to an image signal, a beam deflector to deflect and scan the at least one beam emitted by the light source, a housing containing the light source and the beam deflector, a transparent cover installed on the housing to protect internal elements within the housing and to transmit the at least one beam deflected and scanned by the beam deflector, and a photocatalytic layer formed on at least one surface of the transparent cover to be activated by an incident beam having a predetermined wavelength to decompose organic materials thereon.

    • A polygonal mirror unit is adapted to prevent contamination using a photocatalyst, a light scanning unit, and an image forming apparatus employing the polygonal mirror. The polygonal mirror unit is designed to prevent contamination of organic materials on a reflective surface. The polygonal mirror unit includes a driving device and a polygonal mirror having a reflective surface that is rotated by the driving device and deflects and scans an incident beam. The polygonal mirror has a main body with a plurality of reflective surfaces and photocatalytic layers formed on the plurality of reflective surfaces. The photocatalytic layers are activated by an incident beam of a predetermined wavelength to decompose organic materials on the reflective surfaces.

    • A dynamic bearing with an improved thrust bearing and a beam deflecting apparatus employing the same are disclosed. The dynamic bearing includes a bearing housing having a hollow cavity. A shaft is provided in the hollow cavity so that the shaft can rotate with respect to the bearing housing. First and second magnets are disposed at one end of the shaft and the hollow cavity, respectively. The first and second magnets are spaced a predetermined gap from each other and face each other. The first and second magnets generate a magnetic, repulsive force and support the shaft, without contact, in the axial and radial directions. The dynamic bearing may be used in a beam deflecting apparatus. In that case, a driving source is installed, in parts, on the bearing housing and the rotating shaft. The driving source drives the rotating shaft to rotate by electromagnetic force. A beam deflecting device is installed on the rotating shaft for deflecting an incident beam and performing a scanning operation.
