    • Process for separating water from a gas mixture, obtained in the manufacture of vinyl acetate by reacting ethylene with acetic acid and oxygen in contact with catalysts containing palladium or palladium compounds in the gaseous phase said gas mixture consisting essentially of acetic acid, vinyl acetate, water, carbon dioxide and ethylene, wherein(a) the gas mixture leaving the reaction zone is condensed to give a condensate containing the major portion of acetic acid, vinyl acetate and water and(b) an acetic acid solution containing the residual amount of vinyl acetate and water being prepared by absorption of the non-condensed gas in acetic acid, is characterized in that(c) the condensate obtained in step (a) and the solution obtained in step (b) are introduced separately from each other into the same distillation column, the feeding point of the condensate being above the feeding point of the solution, the water is distilled off at the head of said column as azeotrope together with the vinyl acetate and(d) the water phase is removed from the distillate separating into a water phase and a vinyl acetate phase.

    • A method of protecting programs and data in computers against unauthorized access and modifications employs a programmable hardware circuit to monitor memory regions of a computer. The memory regions are divided into different access levels, and the circuit is programmed to permit access only to predetermined regions. If an unauthorized access is attempted by a program, an address corresponding to the program location initiating the unauthorized access is detected and the program is stopped. This ensures that the procedures for protecting the operating system cannot be circumvented to gain unauthorized access to data of any type. After programming of the circuit is completed, the programming cannot be changed except by actuation of a hardware switch or by re-starting the computer. Removal of the circuit will cause short circuits, thus making it impossible to shut the circuit off without being detected.

    • The invention relates to a closure cap (5) having a dispensing opening (6) for containers with flexible walls, which can be pressed together by hand for the dispensing of spray product which is in connection with the dispensing opening (6) by means of a dip tube (7). Upstream of the dispensing opening (6) is an outlet valve (8), which is open when there is positive pressure in the container, whereas an air-admitting opening (9) is assigned an air-admitting valve (10), which is open when there is negative pressure in the container. By virtue of the outlet valve (8) upstream of the dispensing opening (6), the readmission of air to the container and consequently the risk of sucking in through the dispensing opening (6) substances contaminating the container content is prevented. Maintaining the quality of the spray product in the container is ensured by virtue of the air-admitting opening (9), separate from the dispensing opening (6), and the air-admitting valve (10), which opens only when there is negative pressure in the container.
