An additional delay is applied during the handover process to packets sent to the mobile terminal via the node at the smaller delay so as to reduce the difference between the two delays. Information regarding packet transfer delays may stored and accessed to determine the delays for nodes involved in handover and/or obtained by measurements made during a call, for example.
