    • An electrical connector is fixed to a panel (7) of a notebook computer includes an insulative housing (1) forming two mating sections (12), a plurality of contacts (2) retained in the housing (1), a metal pad (5) and a shielding device. The housing (1) includes a protrusion (13) which has a front face (131) defining a locating hole therein. The shielding device includes two front shells (3) surrounding the mating sections (12) and a rear shell (4). Tabs (32a) extend from the front shells (3) and each defines a hole (32b) therein. The metal pad (5) is mounted to the protrusion, including a body section (52) retained in the locating hole (13a) of the housing (1) and defining an inner-threaded hole (53). A bolt (8) extends through a through hole (71) defined in the panel (7) and the holes (32b) of the front shells (3) in sequence and then engages the inner-threaded hole (53) of the pad (5) for securing the connector to the panel (7).

    • A USB receptacle connector (1) comprises an insulative housing (10), a plurality of terminals (14) received in the insulative housing and a shell (11) covering the insulative housing. The frond end of the shell forms a mating port (111) for insertion of a mating plug connector (1′). Either of two sidewalls (112) of the mating port defines a contact tab (115) which makes the shell of the USB receptacle connector always contact with a shell (11′) of the mating plug connector. Thus, the two shells are continuously grounded so as to ensure reliable grounding and EMI shielding.

    • A shielded connector (1) mounted on a printed circuit board (40) includes an insulative housing (10), a set of conductive terminals (21,22), and a conductive shell (30,30′). The housing includes a top wall (12), a bottom wall (100), a front wall (11), a rear wall (110), and opposed sidewalls (102,104) which together define an interior space (18,19). The terminals are received in the interior space. The shell enclosing the housing includes two retention devices on each of two opposite sides thereof. Each retention device includes a hook (321,321′) and a beam (325) extending through the housing. The hook is longer than the beam and has a bottom free end forming a protrusion (322,324,322′) at a side edge thereof. The protrusion is adapted for engaging in a hole (41) in the printed circuit board.

    • An audio jack connector includes an insulating body (6) and a plurality of terminals retained therein. The insulating body comprises a front wall (68), a top wall (69), a bottom wall (61), a pair of side walls (62, 63), and a rear face (64) opposite to the front wall. A receiving space (601) is defined through the insulating body from the rear face to a projecting portion (65). The bottom wall defines a first slit (604) in communication with the receiving space. The top and bottom walls together define a plurality of slits (605, 606, 607) from the rear face toward the front wall. A first terminal (1) is received in the first slit from the bottom wall and a plurality of terminals (2, 3, 4) are received in the plurality of slits defined in the insulating body from the rear face. The design of the body and terminals gives greater strength to the audio jack than certain jacks of the prior art had.
