    • An adjustable mechanism for an archery sight is characterized by a unique elevation and tension adjustment assemblies which allow a user to quickly and easily set the sight for optimum performance. The mechanism includes an elevation bar having an elevation carriage connected therewith for sliding movement along the bar in a first direction. A windage carriage is connected with the elevation carriage for movement in a second direction, and a sight is connected with the windage carriage. The elevation bar includes a drive screw and the elevation carriage includes a uniquely configured nut releasably connected with the drive screw so that the elevation carriage can be quickly displaced relative to the elevation bar. Tension adjustment between the elevation carriage and the elevation bar is provided by a unique adjustable cam and gib assembly operable by the user. In addition, tension between the windage carriage and the elevation carriage is afforded by a uniquely configured gib of synthetic plastic material in which the tensile strength of the material provides the necessary tension.

    • A triggerless back tension release for use with a bow string includes a handle portion including at least two finger grooves with a post extending substantially perpendicularly away from the handle portion; a two-link release head assembly secured to a free end of the post remote from the handle portion, the two-link release head including an intermediate link pivotably mounted on said post and a forward link pivotably mounted to said intermediate link; a rope loop having two free ends secured to the forward link; and a sear pivotably secured to the forward link, the sear having a hook adapted to receive the rope loop. The free ends of the rope loop are secured to the forward link at a location closely adjacent the hook and forward of the pivot axis, such that, when the rope loop is wrapped about a bow string and slipped over the hook, a gap between doubled-back strands of the rope between the bow string and the release head remains substantially constant or increases in a direction toward the bow string.

    • A device to hold and release a bowstring includes a part that can be locked, held in position, or caused to move with a user-held portion such as a handle. A back tension release device can, for example, include a handle portion; a release assembly on the handle portion with a part of the release assembly able to pivot relative to the handle portion; and a locking mechanism. A user holding the handle portion, with the release assembly holding a bowstring, can control the locking mechanism. When unlocked, the locking mechanism allows the part to pivot, but, when locked, the locking mechanism locks it so that the part moves with the handle portion. The part can, for example, be a pawl head that, when locked, moves with the handle and releases a sear element.

A system can, for example, include a release component that can hold and release bowstrings, a light component that can emit light, and a connecting component that can connect the release component and the light component. The light component can, for example, emit predominantly blue, green, or red light to preserve night vision. The release and light can be connected by a handle structure with two telescoping parts whose length can be adjusted to fit one's hand. A bowstring release can pivot or be fixed in position relative to a handle structure. A glove-like structure can have a finger opening and an attached tube-like structure adjacent to the finger opening; in use, the tube-like structure contains the handle structure, which is held by fingers extending through the finger opening. The handle structure can also fit into a concho-type grip.
