    • An optics assembly for a color measurement system. The optics assembly includes at least one light tube array and a polarization effect minimization element. The optics assembly includes a diffuser, a photocell separator, a precision filter and a second light tube array is provided substantially contained in a housing. The color measurement system includes a multi-purpose filter and the optics assembly. Segmented light is mixed and the polarization qualities of the light are modified so to minimize the effects caused by angular adjustments. A diffuser mixes the segmented light. Additionally, the color measurement system includes an ambient light attachment for collecting light from the viewing area surrounding the computer display. The ambient light collected is then analyzed, and a viewing area profile is created. The viewing area profile then can be used by software to adjust the colors displayed on the computer displays.

    • For use in a system that includes first and second machines to perform operations on a footwear upper assembly, a transfer machine that includes an activator arm assembly, and a gripper assembly rotatably and pivotally connected to one end of the activator arm assembly. The gripper assembly includes a pair of fingers with a gripper jaw pivotally secured to each of the fingers. The pair of fingers are movable toward and away from each other respectively to grasp and release the footwear upper assembly. The pivotal attachment of the jaws permits the jaws to adjust to the irregular profile of the footwear upper assembly, a situation which is enhanced by the geometry of the gripper jaws which permits contact between the jaws at regions spaced longitudinally along the footwear upper assembly and by choosing a jaw material that is soft enough to deform, and hence provide larger contact area between the upper assembly and the jaws.

    • A cable television system capable of decoding signals encoded in two different formats, A and B. Format A is identified by digital data on horizontal lines 10-13 in the vertical blanking interval and format B by digital data on horizontal lines 14-17 in the vertical blanking interval. Logic circuitry receives the vertical blanking interval data and supplies one pulse marking the beginning of the vertical blanking interval and an identifier pulse derived from digital data on horizontal lines 13 or 17. A format mode control switch includes a monostable timing circuit producing an output responsive to the vertical blanking interval pulse for a period terminating at approximately horizontal line 14. The timing circuit output is supplied along with the identifier pulse to the inputs of a flipflop for determining which of the decoders A and B is to be energized.
