The dominant figure-of-merit is determined from at least two figure-of-merit types related to performance of the primary antenna when paired with one or the other of the at least two diversity antennas. The disclosed apparatuses and methods include switching to one or the other of the at least two diversity antennas, to obtain the dominant figure-of-merit, in response to a signal quality metric's relationship to the at least two figure-of-merit types.

摘要： A method and apparatus for obtaining a set of optimized angles of arrival for a corresponding set of radio links. The set of radio links model a radio environment of a wireless unit operating at a particular location within in a radio system. Each radio link represents a different propagation path between the wireless unit and transmitting antenna operating within the radio system. Each optimized angle of arrival represents an angle of arrival of one radio link with reference to the wireless unit. Each probe antenna of a set of probe antennas is positioned at a corresponding angle of the set of optimized angles of arrival. A corresponding set of probe radio signals is transmitted from the set of probe antennas.

摘要： An electronic device (200) includes a single antenna (211), a communication circuit (202), and a RFID circuit (207). A switch (212) selectively couples the single antenna to one of the communication circuit or the RFID circuit. For example, the RFID circuit can be coupled to the single antenna when the electronic device is OFF, and the communication circuit can be coupled to the single antenna when the electronic device is ON. Accordingly, RFID information can be received from an RFID communication device when the electronic device is OFF. When the electronic device is ON, an interrupt can cause the switch to connect the RFID circuit to the single antenna, sometimes only for less than a predetermined duration.

摘要： Aspects of the present disclosure teach decreasing, in a time-averaged regime, the amount of RF energy emitted by a communications device. Generally speaking, the network tells the communications device what power level it should transmit at. If, however, the device determines that it would exceed an emission standard by transmitting at the specified power level for as long as it needs to in order to carry out its transmission duties, then the device can instead decide to transmit at a lower power level. Alternatively (or in combination), the device can, instead of transmitting all the time while it has data to send, only transmit intermittently. In either case, the emitted electromagnetic energy, as averaged over a period of time, is reduced below the maximum allowed by the standard. Later, if possible and necessary, the device can again transmit at a higher power level or more frequently.
