    • An integrated post-amplifier and laser driver assembly is provided that includes a digital control interface for communication with an external digital IC controller having an I2C bus configured to receive signal parameter programming input from a user. The PA/LD includes one or more DACs which communicate with the digital control interface by way of a glue logic module. A memory is provided in the PA/LD that communicates with the DACs by way of the glue logic module and stores an algorithm for facilitating implementation of changes to signal parameters of one or more signals by way of the DACs. Signal parameter programming instructions are received at the PA/LD from a user by way of the I2C bus, and/or from the internally coded algorithm, and are used by the DACs to facilitate implementation of changes to signal parameters of one or more signals.

    • An optical transceiver module having a digital control interface is disclosed. The optical transceiver module comprises a controller and integrated post-amplifier/laser driver, which are included on a printed circuit board disposed in the module. Transmitting and receiving optical sub-assemblies are also disposed in the module. A digital signal interface interconnects the controller with the integrated post-amplifier/laser driver. Digital control signals produced by the controller are transmitted via the digital signal interface to the integrated post-amplifier/laser driver. After receipt by the integrated post-amplifier/laser driver, the digital control signals are converted to analog control signals and forwarded to control amplifiers that use the control signals to vary a plurality of operating parameters of the transceiver module. The digital signal interface can also be employed to provide feedback to the controller relating to the operation of the control devices.

    • An integrated post-amplifier and laser driver assembly is provided that is implemented as a single integrated circuit and is configured to implement various effects, such as polarity control, concerning data signals received by an optical transceiver in conjunction with which the integrated post-amplifier and laser driver assembly is employed. The data signal polarity control is implemented, both in the post-amplifier assembly and the laser driver assembly, by an amplifier that changes the polarity of the data signal by modifying a relationship between first and second propagation paths of the data signal. The data signal polarity control is typically performed in response to a multiplexed digital control signal received at a digital control interface of the integrated post-amplifier and laser driver assembly.

    • An optical transceiver device having digital and programmable control over transceiver components is disclosed. The optical transceiver module comprises a controller and an integrated post-amplifier/laser driver (“PA/LD”), which are included on a printed circuit board disposed in the module. Transmitting and receiving optical sub-assemblies for transceiving optical signals are also disposed in the module. A digital signal interface interconnects the controller with the integrated PA/LD. A microprocessor is interposed between the controller and the PA/LD and is connected to both components via the digital signal interface. Digital control signals produced by the controller are transmitted via the digital signal interface to the integrated PA/LD where they are converted to analog signals for use by a plurality of control amplifiers. Conversely, analog feedback signals produced by the control amplifiers are converted to digital signals and transmitted to the controller. The microprocessor can intercept, analyze, and modify the digital control and feedback signals for optimum use by the controller or integrated PA/LD.

    • An optical transceiver module having digital control of laser current peaking is disclosed.
