    • A control valve for a fuel injector, especially of an air-compressing, spontaneous-ignition, internal combustion engine. The control valve includes a valve body in the form of a piston valve which is axially movable in a housing chamber into a closure position and an open position, with the closure position being determined by a valve seat on the housing, and a seating surface edge on the piston valve. The housing chamber includes at least one high pressure connection, and a low pressure connection. The basic problem with a control valve of this general type is that when the piston valve strikes the valve seat, rebound movements are carried out by the piston valve, so that the closure position can only be reliably assumed after a certain time delay, thus negatively influencing the injection process. In order to avoid these drawbacks, it is possible to have the valve housing chamber, either between its valve seat and the high pressure connection on the one hand, as well as the high-pressure side of the piston valve adjacent the seating surface edge on the other hand, or between its valve seat and the low pressure connection on the one hand as well as the low-pressure side of the piston valve adjacent the seating surface edge, each being provided with a portion having the same diameter. Alternatively, an attenuation mass, especially an attenuation piston element, can be provided on and/or within the piston valve, with this attenuation mass being movable relative to the piston valve.

    • A configuration for amplifying fuel pressure for a fuel injector includes a pressure amplifier having a control space on a low-pressure side, a working space on a high-pressure side, and a moveable ram disposed between the control and working spaces. The control space is connected to an accumulator through a pressure line, and the working space is connected to a fuel line. The device includes an actuator connected to a servovalve for changing between an actuated switched state and an unactuated initial state. In the pressure line is the servovalve between the pressure supply and the control space, which opens the pressure line in the unactuated initial state, and interrupts the pressure line and keeps unpressurized the control space in the actuated switched state. A method for amplifying the fuel pressure includes: connecting the pressure supply to the pressure amplifier, and to the control space through the pressure line; connecting the working space to an injection nozzle with the fuel line; placing the servovalve in the pressure line between the pressure supply and the control space; connecting the actuator to the servovalve; opening the pressure line with the servovalve when the actuator is unactuated; and interrupting the pressure line and keeping unpressurized the control space with the servovalve upon actuation.

    • The fuel injector includes an injection pump element with electromagnetically actuated control valve body supported therein for the control of the beginning of delivery and the quantity delivered. The injection pump element and the control valve are individually replaceable and the control valve body seats without recoil. A control valve (2), which is arranged with clearance in a stepped hole (19) in a plunger bushing (5) is supported in sealing elements (20). The freedom from recoil is achieved by adaptation of a minimum clearance (46) between an anchor plate (30) and an electromagnetic adjusting device (7), the anchor plate (30) being situated in a liquid-filled damping space (33) and the minimum clearance (46) being optimized as a function of the mass of the moving parts of the control valve (2), the spring stiffness of the control valve seat (25), the geometry of an anchor plate (30) and the viscosity of the fuel in the service temperature range.
