    • A baler for forming round roll bales of agricultural products includes a baling chamber in which a plurality of bale-forming rotatable rolls form a bale which is wrapped with a binding tape supplied into the baling chamber from the tape supply roll positioned outside and above the baling chamber. The baling chamber is formed by two portions of the housing which are hinged away from each other to discharge the formed and wrapped bale from the baling chamber. A pair of tape advancing rollers receive a starting end of the tape from the supply roll and advance it into a gap between two adjacent bale-forming rolls so that the binding tape is taken along by the rotating formed bale in the baling chamber. A counter of the number of revolutions of at least one of the advancing rollers is provided, which causes cutting off a tape portion from the binding tape by a control device after the number of revolutions of the advancing roller has reached an adjusted number.

    • The present invention describes a self-propelled or pulled baler for producing bales of agriculturally-harvested crops. Harvested crops are compressed in the feeding channel before entering the actual baling chamber. For this purpose a sensor reaches into the feeding channel. Crops will be pushed against the sensor by the feed rakes. As soon as a pre-adjusted pressure can be measured at the sensor, and the baling ram has moved towards the front dead center position, the motion track of the feed rakes will be switched so the compressed crops located in the feeding channel will be fed into the baling chamber through a single loading stroke. The change of the motion track of the feed rakes dependent upon the pressure sensor has the advantage that, with each loading stroke, an equal amount of compressed crops are fed into the actual baling chamber. Thus, bales of a consistent density can be produced.

    • A device for forming bales of hay, straw or similar crops includes a container in which there is yieldably mounted a holding member situated between the inlet end and the outlet end of the baling chamber of the container. The device picks crops up from the ground and advances the same into the inlet end of the baling chamber so that the crops form a bale thereat, and the holding member presses against the forming bale for the entire duration of the formation of the bale. The holding member retards the advancement of the forming bale toward the outlet end of the baling chamber and yields only after the material of the forming bale has reached a desired degree of packing. The holding member may be a flap pivoted in the container or a shield mounted on a tiltable frame for movement relative thereto and for tilting therewith. At the beginning of the baling operation, the flap or the shield extend across the baling chamber intermediate the inlet and outlet ends thereof and the flap is gradually pivoted, and the shield gradually shifted, by the advancing forming bale. The pivoting of the flap and the displacement of the shield are controlled either by a hydraulic arrangement or a braking arrangement.
