    • The invention relates to a method and a circuit arrangement to reduce motion blur of images shown in non-stroboscopic display devices, in particular Liquid Crystal Display Panels (LCDs). Thin Film Transistor Displays (TFTs), Color Sequential Displays. Plasma Display Panels (PDPs), Digital Micro Mirror Devices or Organic Light-Emitting Diode (OLED) displays, in which motion vectors depending on moving components in each image of an input video, signal are calculated, in which anti-motion blur filtering of the input video signal is performed based on the calculated motion vectors to produce an output video signal, and in which images are generated on said display device depending on said output video signal. In order to provide an improved spatial filtering with less noise enhancement and less noise modulation, it is proposed that edge characteristics in each image of the input video signal are determined and that anti-motion blur filtering is further based on said determined edge characteristics. In this way, spatial filtering is concentrated on significant parts of an image only, and both noise enhancement and noise modulation are reduced.

    • An overdrive circuit (20) for a display panel (1) comprising a pixel (10) having inertia further comprises a table look up circuit (24) or a function circuit (24) which receives a start value (SV) and a desired value (DV) being either an input value (IV) indicating an image to be displayed, or a clipped value (CV) and which supplies an overdrive value (OV) to the pixel (10). A substituting circuit (30) substitutes the input value (IV) by a reachable response within one predetermined period (Tf) starting from the start value (SV) to obtain the clipped value (CV). A memory (23) receives the clipped value (CV) to supply the start value (SV) which is the clipped value (CV) delayed over the one predetermined period (Tf). The substituting circuit (30) comprises a table look up circuit or a function circuit (22) which indicates for the start value (SV) a corresponding minimum value (MI) reached from the start value (SV) within one predetermined period (Tf) if a minimum drive value (MID) is applied to the pixel (10), and a corresponding maximum value (MS) reached from the start value (SV) within one predetermined period (Tf) if a maximum drive value (MAD) is applied to the pixel (10).

    • This invention relates to a method, a computer program, a computer program product, and a device for reducing motion blur of images of a video signal shown on a hold-type display (101), comprising estimating (1102) motion vectors of moving components in said images of said video signal; band-pass filtering (1100, 1101) said video signal with respect to a spatial frequency domain, wherein said band-pass filtering at least partially depends on said estimated motion vectors, and wherein with increasing length of said estimated motion vectors, the passband of said band-pass filtering adaptively shifts from high spatial frequencies to medium spatial frequencies; and combining (1104) said video signal and said band-pass filtered video signal to produce an input video signal for said hold-type display.
