摘要： A container ensemble for food packaging comprising a substantially planar lid member formed of a polymeric material which has a plurality of substantially planar lids which are integrally formed and separably joined to each other, each of the lids including a sealing channel around its perimeter and a skirt extending outwardly therefrom. The lid member is provided with tearable portions to facilitate separation. The other component of the ensemble is a cup member formed of a polymeric material defining a plurality of cups which are integrally formed and also separably joined to each other, the cups including a bottom, a sidewall, and a brim about an upper opening of each cup. Each cup has a skirt extending outwardly from its brim provided with tearable portions to facilitate separation. The sealing channels of the lids of the lid member are adapted to mate with the brims of the cups to provide a plurality of separably joined sealed containers when the lid member and cup member are joined in sealing engagement; the ensemble being thereby adapted for sequentially: (i) receiving serving portions of food in a plurality of cups; (ii) lidding the cups to provide sealed containers containing individual portions; (iii) separating the sealed containers; and (iv) distributing the portions.

摘要： An improved lidded container includes a receptacle portion with a brim having a plurality of lateral substantially straight brim wall segments provided with medial sealing beads extending between corners of the brim. The medial sealing beads are characterized in that they project away from the respective walls upon which they are disposed a maximum distance at a central portion of the wall and the medial sealing beads extend over a major portion of the length of the lateral sealing wall upon which they are disposed. Most preferably, the beads are tangent with and terminate at rounded corners between the wall segments.

摘要： A straw-insertable disposable lid is disclosed including a flexible disk-like body having a top surface for covering an opening of a cup, a plurality of intersecting lines of weakness each extending between two ends with the lines of weakness being located on the body and adapted to permit the insertion of a drinking straw through the top surface of the lid and a plurality of intersecting troughs for accommodating a respective one of the intersecting lines of weakness, with the troughs acting to stop the propagation of the tearing of the lines of weakness in a radially outward direction when a straw is inserted into the lid and for closing the plurality of intersecting lines of weakness in response to a fluid pressure force acting on an underside of the top surface of the lid should a filled cup incorporating such lid be inadvertently tilted over. The aforementioned lid if formed by placing a sheet of thermo-deformable material between a male and female die set, the male die including an edge for forming the plurality of intersecting lines of weakness and the plurality of intersecting troughs in a substantially planar portion of the sheet with each trough accommodating a respective one of the lines of weakness, heating the sheet of thermo-deformable material between the male and female die set and substantially simultaneously forming the plurality of lines of weakness and the plurality of troughs during the formation of the remaining portions of the straw-insertable lids.

The combination of the filler amount and tear-back configuration allows an improved tearability for the filled polystyrene lids.
