    • Air filtering apparatus includes a filter cell having ionizing and collecting structure, a high voltage power supply and control unit for supplying a high voltage to the filter cell, a separate low voltage power supply unit for supplying operating power to the high voltage power supply unit and a separate probe unit for monitoring the flow of air within a duct in which the filter cell is installed. The high voltage power supply and control unit includes an output transistor in series with a primary winding of a step-up transformer and controlled by an oscillator circuit which is operative to control and limit the output voltage and current and also the current through the output transistor. The probe unit includes a pair of thermistors and a bridge circuit and operates to provide a signal which is independent of variables other than air flow velocity.     • A cordless telephone system is provided which includes a base unit operatively coupled to a user's telephone lines and a relatively compact portable cordless handset. Both the base unit and the cordless handset include a radio transmitter and a receiver which form a full duplex two-way FM radio link wherein the transmitter of the base unit and the receiver of the cordless handset operate on a first non-CB frequency and the transmitter of the cordless handset and the receiver of the base unit operate on a second different and distinct non-CB frequency. Both the cordless handset and the base unit include signal-injecting circuitry whereby a portion of the transmitter signal is injected into the input of the receiver to provide the local oscillator function for that receiver without undesirable cross-talk between the transmitted and received signals. The cordless handset also includes a keyboard for entering dialing information, security code identification switches for entering a user's identification code, a logic network responsive to the entered dialing information and security code information for generating data words indicative thereof, and an FSK-encoder including circuitry for generating a subcarrier frequency tone and circuitry responsive to the subcarrier tone for generating FSK-encoded equivalents of the data words. The FSK-encoded data words and the subcarrier frequency tone are superimposed on an FM modulated carrier for transmission to the receiver of the base unit. The base unit includes a microprocessor-based control system for controlling substantially all operational functions including ringing signal generation, security identification, line seizure, dialing signal generation, memory storage and recall, muting during identification and dialing, selecting T/R or R/O operation, and the like.

    • There is disclosed a scanning radio receiver for use on the frequencies assigned to the Public Safety Radio Services in which frequency modulation is used and which also will receive the aircraft band from 118 to 136 MHz in which amplitude modulation is used. A detector circuit is provided including separate AM and FM demodulators with there being a squelch circuit associated with the FM demodulator, the squelch circuit being operative in AM as well as FM reception. A window detector circuit for minimizing the effect of strong signals outside a desired band is also associated with the FM demodulator and is also operative during AM reception. Common circuits are used for both AM and FM reception, including common RF portions, a common first IF portion operative at 10.8 MHz, a common second mixer and stages of a second IF amplifier operative at 400 KHz.

    • A monitor for use in a multi-row seed planting apparatus is provided for detecting seeds passing from a seed bin to a plurality of seed dispensers and for indicating by row number an improperly operating dispenser. A seed sensor is placed in the seed flow path of each dispenser to provide an output signal indicating that seeds are continuously flowing along the seed flow path through the dispenser. A two-digit seven-segment readout display is provided on the monitor and is coupled to the seed dispenser through logic circuitry which energizes the readout display to indicate the row number of an improperly operating seed dispenser.

    • A forage conveyor-scale apparatus includes a pivoted conveyor having a differential transformer load cell providing a weight signal. A Hall cell unit is coupled to the conveyor to produce a speed signal. An automatic gain amplifier is controlled by the speed signal to vary the energization of the transformer from an oscillator. The output voltage of the transformer is rectified and averaged to produce a DC analog rate weight signal which is connected to drive a rate weight BCD counter and a total weight BCD counter. The analog signal drives a triggered integrator to form a pulse train driving the total counter. A dual slope integrator is controlled by the analog signal to cyclically control the weight rate counter. A single readout is provided and connected to the rate weight counter. The output of the total counter is forced through the rate weight counter to the readout to display the total count. A comparator may respond to a present input and the total counter to automatically terminate delivery.

A voltage controlled oscillator is provided which is operable at frequencies up to nearly 175 MHz for producing an output signal for direct mixing with received signals in the low and high VHF bands as well as in the aircraft band and for tripling to provide a first local oscillator signal for UHF operation up to 512 MHz. A divider circuit is provided for direct countdown from the frequency of the voltage controlled oscillator to produce a low frequency signal for comparison with a fixed frequency signal of 5 KHz, or in the case of UHF operation, 4.167 KHz. The countdown circuitry along with the phase detector and divider circuits for producing the reference are all mounted on a single integrated circuit chip. Also, a shift register is provided on the chip for control of the divider circuits in response to data entered serially.

    • There is disclosed a signal-seeking superheterodyne radio receiver for use on the public service radio frequencies capable of scanning among a plurality of channels and using frequency synthesizing apparatus to generate the required local oscillator signals. An electrically programmable, nonvolatile memory is included for controlling the frequency to which the receiver is tuned when it is operative on any given channel. The receiver includes a plurality of manually operated switches for selectively locking out individual ones of the receiver channels and inhibiting the reception of signals at the frequencies corresponding to the locked out channels. It further includes programming circuitry for altering the information contained in the memory and, thus, the frequency corresponding to any individual channel. The programming circuitry uses the channel lockout switches for data entry and includes apparatus for defeating the channel lockout function when data is being prepared and entered into the memory. Programming enabling circuitry is provided to insure that information contained in the memory is not unintentionally erased. The programming circuitry further includes unique circuits for inverting the logic function of certain of the logic components contained therein, thus permitting the same channel selection circuitry to be used for channel selection in both the read and erase modes of the memory.
