摘要： A fuse for a monolithic ceramic capacitor is made of two exothermically alloyable materials such as aluminum and palladium. A monolithic ceramic body has two conventional conductive layer terminals contacting two groups of buried film electrodes. The body also has a third conductive layer that is spaced from the conventional terminals and the electrodes. A fuse is connected between a conventional terminal and the third layer. Alternatively, the conventional body without the third layer has two leads, one of which is connected to a first of the terminals and the other of which is insulated from both terminals but physically attached to the body. In this case the fuse is connected between the insulated of the leads and the second of the terminals.

Alternatively, the conducting member is a base metal having an adjacent layer of graphite interposed between said base metal and said manganese dioxide. An extended portion of the conducting member serves as the cathode lead.

摘要： A fuse for a solid electrolyte capacitor is made of two exothermically alloyable metals such as aluminum and palladium. The fuse has a series electrical connection with and a thermal connection to the capacitor body. A defective and overheated capacitor section results in abnormally high currents so that the fuse temperature is elevated by ohmic self-heating and/or by the flow of heat from the overheated body. When the alloying temperature of the fuse is reached, the temperature of the alloying fuse momentarily becomes very high and opens essentially along its entire length.

摘要： An oil filled capacitor has an exothermically alloyable fuse strand within the closed housing that is filled with a dielectric oil. A circuit interruptor means is included within the housing that interrupts a capacitor section to housing terminal connection either in response to overpressure or to overtemperature within the housing, or both. The fuse strand is part of that connection and a portion of the fuse is located at the predetermined point of potential interruption so that any arcing that occurs across the gap of the opened connection will kindle the fuse which in turn will be completely obliterated and quench the arc.

摘要： Formed porous tantalum pellets each having an extending anode wire are lowered part way into a molten compound such as napthalene. The napthalene wicks its way into substantially all of the pellet pores. Upon removal from the bath the napthalene freezes within each pellet. A liquid insulating material is applied to the anode wire while being masked from entering the porous pellet by the napthalene. The napthalene is subsequently vaporized from the pores and thereafter manganous nitrate is introduced into the pellet and is pyrolyzed to form MnO.sub.2.
