摘要： An optical d.c. voltage transformer having an electrooptic medium to which a d.c. electrical field or voltage to be measured is to be applied. The electrooptic medium affects the polarized light from the polarizer by an electrooptical effect to a degree proportional to the strength of the electrical field or voltage. The transformer includes a photodetector for producing an optical signal proportional to the affected light received from the electrooptic medium, a device for converting the optical signal from the photodetector into an electrical signal, a chopper for pulsating the electrical field or voltage to be applied to the electrooptic medium, in terms of time, a detector for demodulating the electrical signal from the converting device in synchronism with the pulsated electrical field or voltage, and an output unit for visually presenting the demodulated electrical signal similar in polarity to the electrical field or voltage to be measured.

摘要： Provided is an image display apparatus including: a vacuum container having an electron source enclosed therein for displaying an image; an ion pump communicating with the vacuum container for discharging air therefrom and decreasing pressure therein; and a resistor connected in series with the ion pump with respect to a power supply for driving the ion pump. Even if internal resistance of the ion pump undergoes order-of-magnitude changes according to its operating state, current consumption can be suppressed and the ion pump can be driven efficiently.

摘要： In order to be capable of high-precision gas measurement and evaluating influences of a gas on an electron source, and to predict a life of an image display device with high precision for a short period of time, there is provided a sealed container which is capable of maintaining an inside thereof to a lower pressure than an atmospheric pressure, and is used for an image display device including in the inside: a phosphor; an electron-emitting device for causing the phosphor to emit light; and a getter, the sealed container including an exhaust pipe having a breakable vacuum isolating member on at least one side of the image display device. Accordingly, after the exhaust pipe is connected to a gas measuring apparatus, by vacuum-exhausting the gas measuring apparatus and breaking the breakable vacuum isolating member, it is possible to perform a gas measurement on the image display device by using a measuring chamber having an orifice having a known conductance and installed in part of an exhaust channel of the gas measuring apparatus for vacuum-exhausting the image display device.

摘要： A method of making a mask arrangement including two (2) or more of masks for a mask-focusing color picture tube and the mask arrangement formed by the method. A plurality of apertured flat masks, each mask comprising an effective portion having apertures and a non-effective portion surrounding the effective portion, are prepared. The flat masks are aligned and stacked, then filling material is poured into the apertures. The filling material is solidified thereby fixing the flat masks together. The fixed masks are pressed into a predetermined curved shape. Then, the filling material is removed from the apertures and the masks are separated.

A mask body of a shadow mask has two effective areas, in which numerous electron beam passage apertures are bored, defined in association with the scanning regions, and has a boundary portion defined between the effective areas and opposed to the boundary between the scanning regions of the phosphor screen. An adjustment member used to adjust a q value at a plurality of points on the boundary portion is fixed to the inner surface of the boundary portion. After the q value is adjusted, the adjustment member is fixed to the mask frame.
