摘要： The present invention is an improvement in dynamic autostereoscopic visual displays emitting a field of light beams into an observer viewing space from a hogel array formed at a transparent projection screen surface having refractive beam expanding functions. The transparent screen is illuminated from the rear by an X-Y array of projectors focused on the screen, where each hogel location is illuminated by a local group of multiple projectors within the larger array. The brightness, color and direction of the light beams emitted by each hogel are controlled by one image point in each member of the local projector group that illuminates that hogel. The invention enables autostereoscopic display systems with compact dimensions and high overall resolution and brightness by combining the output of an array of small projectors with lower resolution and brightness on a single projection screen.

摘要： A vacuum pressure swing absorption (VPSA) system and a four-cycle method are provided for separating and concentrating one portion of a gas mixture. A reciprocating piston (6) and associated valves and conduits can be combined with a bed of selective porous absorbent material (2) to produce concentrated oxygen from ambient air. The piston and valves are arranged to induct a feed gas mixture, produce product gas at a specified output pressure, regenerate the porous absorbent material, and expel depleted gas. Such an arrangement can result in higher energy efficiency as compared to conventional processes since free expansion losses are substantially avoided. The product gas flow can be adjusted to meet demand while maintaining high energy efficiency.

摘要： The strain relief device of this invention reduces injury and danger of serious infection at driveline skin exit sites caused by routine patient activities and accidental stresses on the drivelines of ventricle assist devices and similar externally powered implanted medical devices. The device comprises a sleeve that forms an adherent biological interface with the skin and compliant seals between the sleeve and driveline. The compliant seals mechanically decouple linear and rotary driveline motions from the sleeve, while isolating the patients internal tissue from the outside environment. This mechanical decoupling reduces stresses and injury to the adherent interface, thereby reducing the risk of bacterial entry and infection. The device may be inserted into the patient as part of the driveline assembly implantation procedure, and is positioned such that the skin contacts and adheres to the outer diameter of the sleeve. It may also be partially or completely replaced or retrofitted to previously implanted drivelines in a relatively simple procedure.

摘要： The present invention is directed to improved designs and methods for improving engine fuel efficiency by providing two-stage engine variable compression in running engines using connecting rod force reversals to rotate eccentric bushings to change the connecting rod length. Compression ratio changes are initiated by shifting a block-mounted cam such that it engages and flips a bi-stable toggle on the connecting rod. The clutch mechanism latches the eccentric at the eccentric rotation end point, whereupon the connecting rod acts as a rigid rod. The invention includes novel configurations of the lubricated journal bearing between the connecting rod and the eccentric that modify the squeeze film bearing effects and resulting friction. These configurations reduce the peak eccentric torque carried by the clutch mechanism while facilitating eccentric rotation at lower torque.

摘要： A bipolar separator which is formed from a plate having opposing first and second surfaces which are compatible with fuel gas and an oxidant gas, respectively. The plate is formed with a central area, first and second opposing troughs extending from first and second opposing sides of the central area, and third and fourth opposing troughs extending from third and fourth opposing sides of the central area. In the regions of its third and fourth sides, the central area is bent over and around so that the third and fourth troughs face and are adjacent to the central area. The first surface of the separator defines the extent of a first surface of the central area and the extents of the inner surfaces of the troughs of the separator. Similarly, the second surface of the separator defines the extents of a second opposing surface of central area and the extents of the outer surfaces of the troughs.
