    • Lifter cups are provided for engaging and lifting objects and include a mounting portion and a flexible engaging portion. The flexible engaging portion is configured to form a sealing disk for engaging the object. The sealing disk has channels diffusing fluid from the contact surface with the object. The channel walls have raised portions separated by concentric slits. For handling objects of magnetic material, a permanent magnet may be recessed into the flexible engaging portion. When the sealing disk engages with the surface of the object, the magnet exerts a magnetic force on the object sufficient to support holding the object for additional lateral support when lifting away from the center of gravity of the object. A transfer assembly and a method of configuring a lifter device for use in a stamping process for manufacturing a vehicle are also provided.

    • A scalable high-performance bouncing apparatus provides convenient access to an internally mounted compound tension spring. Semi-mounted internal storage of disengaged tension elements may be provided. The tension elements may be engaged or disengaged through an access feature such as a slot in the apparatus frame. A user's finger or tool may be employed to effect engagement/disengagement. Alternatively, the apparatus may include mechanical components capable of effecting engagement/disengagement. The tension elements may also be part of a cartridge unit that can be wholly removed from the apparatus for engagement/disengagement. The assembly may also include a torque-transmitting bearing and/or a universal foot joint for improved high performance operation.

    • An article of footwear is described with a sole that has a forefoot plate, a heel plate, at least one alloy cleat, and at least one molded cleat. The alloy cleat may be made of a non-ferrous metal alloy or alternatively an alloy based on ceramics, titanium, and/or magnesium. According to the invention, the alloy cleat protrudes from the forefoot plate and the molded cleat protrudes from the heel plate. The sole can additionally have a stability element that controls the movement of the forefoot plate with respect to the heel plate. An alternative aspect of the invention is an alloy cleat having a body with a generally arcuate cross-section and an integrally formed stiffening rib.
