    • In order to simplify a constitution of a locking member capable of locking engageably and detachably an ink head with a stationary region, an ink-jet printer comprises a first carriage supported relatively transferable in a predetermined direction with respect to the medium; a second carriage supported relatively transferable in the predetermined direction with respect to the medium and juxtaposed so as to position on a side in the predetermined direction of the first carriage; a slide means disposed on the first carriage to be transferable in a direction intersecting with the predetermined direction; an ink head disposed fixedly on the slide means and capable of discharging an ink on the medium; a cutting head disposed fixedly on the second carriage and capable of cutting out the medium; a locking member transferred with transfer of the first carriage towards the predetermined direction and transfer of the slide means towards direction intersecting with the predetermined direction to lock engageably and detachably with a stationary region; and a coupling means for coupling separably the first carriage to the second carriage.

    • A printer is disclosed for creating and cutting an image to be processed on a surface of an object. The printer comprises a guide rail that extends in a specified direction, an inkjet head supported on the guide rail for movement in the specified direction on the guide rail, wherein ink from the inkjet head ink is emitted and the image is created on the surface in response to image data, and a cutting head supported on the guide rail for movement along the specified direction on the guide rail for providing cutting of the image in response to the image data. A first driving means is provided for moving the inkjet head in the specified direction on the guide rail. A second driving means is provided for moving the cutting head in the specified direction on the guide rail. A controller provides control information to the first driving means and the second driving means.

    • A chromatic dispersion generating apparatus of the present invention comprises a VIPA plate capable of emitting an incident light to different directions according to wavelengths, a three-dimensional mirror reflecting the light of respective wavelengths emitted from the VIPA plate at a previously set position to return them to the VIPA plate, and a control section that controls a position of the three-dimensional mirror and the temperature of the VIPA plate. The control section computes a target position of the three-dimensional mirror and the target temperature of the VIPA plate, which correspond to an arbitrary wavelength and a chromatic dispersion value, based on data relating to positions of the three-dimensional mirror corresponding to a plurality of chromatic dispersion values of a specific wavelength and a chromatic dispersion slope value, and data relating to the temperatures of the VIPA plate corresponding to a plurality of dispersion values for respective wavelengths on a predetermined wavelength grid and a wavelength temperature coefficient, which are stored in a storage circuit, to optimize the computed target position and the computed target temperature. As a result, it becomes possible to generate the chromatic dispersion with high accuracy at an arbitrary wavelength.
