    • A paper feeding system that eliminates a mechanism for interrupting driving force to picking rollers to lower the cost of the system and to secure the feeding of papers. Corner nails are supported in a manner displacable up and down on the both sides of the front end portion of a paper cassette and the front corner portions of papers stored within the paper cassette can be anchored by the corner nails. A projecting part of the corner nails abuts to a stopper to restrict its upper limit position. When the paper is not fed, the picking rollers are in an up position and are separated from the paper and the corner nails retain the paper at a certain height position engaging with the front corner portion of the paper. When the paper is fed, the picking rollers go down to a down position to press the paper against biasing force of a bias spring and the corner nails are separated from the stopper and contact with the front corner portion of the paper in the down position.

    • The present invention is intended to facilitate the replacement of printing types and to eliminate mistakes in the replacement thereof. A printing type wheel 2 and a stock wheel 3 are coaxially arranged. The printing type wheel 2 is provided with an attachment part for inserting and attaching a printing type unit 5 for printing on an object F to be printed. The printing type unit 5 is detachably stocked in the stock wheel 3. The printing type unit 5 is taken out from the stock wheel 3 with a robot 6 so as to be attached on the printing type wheel 2. Ink is deposited to the printing type unit 5 attached on the printing type wheel 2 with an ink roller 45. The printing type wheel 5, the stock wheel 3 and the ink roller 45 are warmed with the heater 30 and the heater 46.

    • Method of feeding a sheet of paper in a small-sized paper having small transport rollers mounted downstream of the print head. The feeding of the sheet is stopped temporarily when the sheet arrives at each of a number of positions located before the discharge rollers during a line feed operation. Under this interrupted condition, the print head is reciprocated once idly in a direction perpendicular to the direction in which the sheet is fed. Therefore, even if the front end portion of the sheet curls to a great extent, the curl is reduced by the idle movement of the head immediately before the front end of the sheet arrives between the discharge rollers. This ensures that the sheet is fed between the discharge rollers even if the diameter of the rollers is small.

    • A serial printer comprises a printing head, a carrier for carrying the printing head, a platen, and a pair of guide members extending in parallel with the platen for supporting the carrier in a movable manner. An openable member is attached openably to the casing of the printer and supporting one of the guide members. Engaging receivers are formed in the carrier for allowing the one guide member to engage therewith and disengage therefrom in a direction substantially perpendicular to the extending direction of the one guide member. Engaging brackets may be mounted on the printing head for coming into and out of engagement with one of the guide members at a right angle with respect to the extending direction of the one guide member. Moving members may be supported movably in the casing of the printer for supporting the one guide member, when moved, to bring the one guide member into and out of an engagement with the engaging brackets. One of the pair of guide members can be supported by a front cover which can open and close a printer case. Because of the above described construction, the printing head guide can be made compact in size, light in weight and inexpensive to manufacture.
