    • A heavy duty truck liner for working on a truck, or large trailer, where a plurality of pulling and pushing operations are required to straighten a frame, etc. A plurality of tracks in the form of a rectangle surrounding the normal position of the truck and body, is prepared and set into the concrete floor of the work room. A large inverted U-frame is set on rollers which are adapted to travel longitudinally along the long sides of the track. The frame is large enough to completely encircle the truck and body can be moved readily along the track so as to be opposite any point on the side walls of the body where pulling or pushing operations are required. A folding platform is attached in a slidable manner to the sidewalls of the frame so as to position the platform at any level on either side of the body. Hydraulic locking means are provided to lock the frame in any selected position so as to withstand any pulling and pushing forces required. A plurality of robots are provided which are adapted to run on a second set of rails paralleling the first set which support the U-frame. Each of these robots is provided with a swivel table and a hydraulic crane so that it can be used to pick up loads, swing them to different positions and transport them along the rails, etc. The hydraulic crane can reach into the frame of the truck and pull, or push, as required, to provide straightening operations.

    • A measuring platform system is utilized to measure the extent of damaged or misaligned vehicle frames or bodies to expedite the repair thereof. The platform becomes the measuring datum plane from which all measurements as to the pre and post repair locus of a particular reference point on the vehicle are taken as to height above the datum plane and distance from a longitudinal centerline of the datum plane. Means are provided as a part of the platform system to raise the vehicle and move same to a position where the longitudinal vertical plane through the centerline of the vehicle intersects the centerline of the datum plane. A computer can be used as a part of the system.

    • In the process of designing a log structure, a kit is provided having a plurality of model logs of different diameters and lengths, having saddle notches and/or end notches, panels for windows, doors, etc., ceiling panels, trusses, and so on. A construction board or surface is provided having a rectangular grid of squares laid out to the same scale as the logs and other elements. In designing the structure, the various model building elements are laid out on the construction surface in precisely the same manner that they would be assembled on a floor slab with the full-sized finished logs. Model elements of the precise lengths, etc. are used, so that wall openings, such as windows and doors would be positioned precisely at the desired location. Sufficient numbers of elements would be provided to build a complete structure. Each construction element would be identified by a coded alpha-numeric symbol or designation which would completely specify the construction of that element. These code designations would plainly be marked on the element. When the structure is completed, photographs are taken of each wall and floor plan, so that the detailed construction of the structure is clearly shown. A complete bill of materials would then be available by listing each of the elements in the structure. The photographs would serve as assembly instructions since they would indicate the precise position and identification of each of the elements.

    • A machine for processing wood logs for construction of log houses. The machine includes means to load raw logs into a self-centering means, whereby a carriage assembly can be centered over the logs and the log is mounted in the carriage on powered centers, by means of which it can be rotated. The carriage travels longitudinally on tracks on a linear frame past a plurality of rotating cutters. As the log rotates the cutters cut the log down to a selected final diameter. The carriage is then run back to its starting point, the centers are locked so that the log cannot rotate and two cutters are positioned at equal distances above and below the axis of the log to cut tongues and grooves on the top and bottom of the log, respectively. Additional means are provided for cutting a saddle notch beneath the log, to cut the logs to precise length, to cut a vertical notch in each end for the purpose of joining logs end-to-end, and means for longitudinally slitting the log.
