    • The invention discloses a method for manufacturing an organic electro-luminescent display device, the method comprising the steps of: providing a light-permeable substrate; arranging a plurality of transparent electrodes in a stripe-like manner on the light-permeable substrate, the transparent electrodes being made of a light-permeable con-ductive film; forming at least one organic layer on the subassembly, the at least one organic layer being made of an organic elec-tro-luminescent medium so that the at least one organic layer covers the electrodes; forming a conductive film all over the at least one organic layer; and removing at least one portion of the conductive film so as to create stipe-like electrodes being electrical isolated to each other and extending in a direction perpendicular to the transparent electrodes using a radiation method.

    • The present invention relates to an apparatus with electro-luminescent components having one or more layers of organic active material. The electrodes are structured in such a way that the apparatus's layers are protected during structuring and the components may be tightly packed together to improve display resolution. The display includes two electrode layers in addition to the at least one organic layer. The display also includes a first layer and a second layer that form a structure with an overhang. The overhang prevents at least two electrodes from one of the electrode layers from contacting one another. The second layer includes a cross-linked material.

    • An OLED device using improved pillars to facilitate patterning of a conductive layer is described. Conventional use of pillars to pattern electrodes encounters shorting problems due to piling of polymer material at the base of the pillars. This piling deteriorates the profile of the pillars which adversely impacts the ability of the pillars to pattern the conductive layer to form the electrodes. The present invention avoids the shorting problem by separating the pillars into at least first and second sub-pillars. By providing a relatively narrow gap between the sub-pillars, the amount of polymers filling the area between the gap is small. This prevents at least the sidewalls of the pillars facing the gap from being deteriorated by polymer pile-up, thus ensuring that the conductive layer is discontinuous between the sub-pillars.
