    • A method for performing communication in the wireless sensor network is disclosed. The upper node transmits a beacon message to the lower nodes, wherein the beacon message distinguishes an indirect transmission interval, in which the upper node transmits downlink data to the plurality of lower nodes, from a direct transmission interval adjacent to the indirect transmission interval, in which the upper node receives uplink data from the plurality of lower nodes. The lower nodes determine the indirect transmission interval and the direct transmission interval from the received beacon message. The downlink data is transmitted from the upper node to the lower nodes in the indirect transmission interval. The uplink data is transmitted from the lower nodes to the upper node in the direct transmission interval. When communication is performed between the upper node and the lower nodes, the data can be efficiently transmitted from the upper node to the lower nodes.

    • A packet transmission method for a WPAN that for alleviating traffic concentration in an active period and improving network throughput by controlling packet transmission timing in the active period. A packet transmission method for a wireless personal area network including a coordinator operating with a specific duty cycle and a plurality of devices includes determining, when a packet is generated, whether there is another packet waiting to be sent; determining, if there is no other packet waiting to be sent, whether the network is in an inactive period; setting, when network is in an inactive period, a backoff time; and sending the packet when the backoff time has expired. The packet transmission method controls an initial backoff value adaptively to a duty cycle of the network.

The IPS mode LCD device of the present invention includes a transparent insulating substrate, a gate bus line and a data bus line arranged in a cross fashion on the transparent insulating substrate to define a unit pixel area, a common electrode line disposed in parallel to the gate bus line while being spaced at most apart from the gate bus line in the unit pixel area, the common electrode line having a pair of shields respective disposed at both lateral edges of the unit pixel area, a thin film transistor disposed near an intersection of the gate bus line and the data bus line, a counter electrode arranged in the unit pixel area between the shield of the common electrode line and made of a transparent conductor, the counter electrode including a plurality of branches arranged in parallel to the data bus line, and a bar contacting the common electrode line and connecting respective one-side ends of the branches together, and a pixel electrode formed of a transparent conductor and including a pair of first electrode parts respectively overlapping with the shields of the common electrode line while extending in parallel to the data bus line, second electrode parts interposed each between adjacent ones of the branches included in the counter electrode, and a third electrode part contacting a part of the thin film transistor while connecting together respective one-side ends of the first and second electrode parts.

    • Techniques for segmented CDMA searching are disclosed. In one aspect, a searcher comprises a plurality of storage elements selectable for performing a plurality of segmentable search tasks, each storage element operable for storage of and access to state information for one of the plurality of search tasks. In another aspect, a first search task is interrupted in progress, the state information for the first task is stored, a second search task is performed, and the first search task is continued using the stored state information. In yet another aspect, a search task is segmented into smaller search segments, sized to fit within contiguous available time in the searcher. Various other aspects of the invention are also presented. These aspects have the benefit of circuit area and search-time efficiency which translate into reduced costs, increased standby time, increased acquisition speed, higher quality signal transmission, increased data throughput, decreased power, and improved overall system capacity.
