摘要： The invention relates to an ambience lighting system, typically for use in conjunction with a display device. The ambience lighting system may be of the type AmbiLight. The ambience lighting system comprises one or more light sources associated to subregions of the display screen; a content characterizer for determining content characteristics of image data of the subregions; and a controller controlling the color of the emitted ambience light of the one or more light sources in accordance with determined content characteristics of the subregions of the display screen. The subregions are configured to move from a prior position to a next position and the content characterizer and the controller are adapted for controlling the color of the emitted ambience light in accordance with the determined content characteristics of the image data of subregions of the next position. A dynamic ambience lighting is thereby obtained.

The ambient illumination system generates the illumination variation using an ambilight signal (A, (A1,1. . . A4,5), P, (P1,1, . . . P4,5)) derived from a video-image (I1, I2), the ambient illumination system comprises an analyzer for deriving the ambilight signals from the video-image and comprises a controller (10) for driving the light source (L1, L2, . . . L8) using the ambilight signal. The illumination variation is displayed by the controller while not displaying the video-image. The effect of the ambient illumination system according to the invention is that it enables to enhance the usability of the ambient illumination system by using the ambiance created by the ambient illumination system via, for example, a previously shown video-image, however, now at a time when the video-image is not shown on the display device which, for example, is located in the same room.

The lighting device (1) comprises a first light emitting element (101) being optically coupled to a light guide (110) having an out-coupling surface (111) for illumination via the light guide. Further, the lighting device comprises a second light emitting element (102) dedicated for direct illumination from the lighting device. The invention is advantageous in that the lighting device provides both a decorative look and a functional illumination, and is still energy-efficient since the light emitted from the second light emitting element is directly emitted from the light emitting element without unnecessary energy-loss.

The lighting device (1) comprises a first light emitting element (101) being optically coupled to a light guide (110) having an out-coupling surface (111) for illumination via the light guide. Light sources are placed at the rear side of the display device along with a reflector, where the internal arrangement of the light sources and the reflector is such that when the display device is placed in proximity to the wall the light emitted by the at least one light source becomes reflected by the reflector towards the wall such that the reflected light at least partly peripherally surrounds the viewing area of the display device.
