    • Absorbent articles of the present invention are specifically adapted for the adult male anatomy. The articles include a moisture barrier having a length measured between front and back ends of less than about 46 centimeters. A liner is bonded to the moisture barrier sandwiching an absorbent assembly therebetween. The moisture barrier is gathered along each of its side edges between forward and rearward terminal points. The forward terminal points are spaced from the front end of the moisture barrier by at least about 7 centimeters, and the rearward terminal points spaced from the back end of the moisture barrier by less than about 5 centimeters. Elasticized containment flaps disposed on the liner extend longitudinally toward the front end to a position at least about 16 centimeters from the back end of the moisture barrier. The moisture barrier is also gathered along its back end. In particular embodiments, a retaining member is bonded to the liner and defines therebetween a compartment having a volume of at least about 25 cubic centimeters, and a cover formed of a liquid impermeable material is bonded to the liner.

    • The disclosure describes a commode liner made from a first and a second opposing member defining a top with an opening, a bottom, and a pair of opposing sides. The pair of opposing sides includes a separation distance D, which varies from the top to the bottom, and the distance D is larger at the top than at the bottom. The opposing members can be formed from a latently dispersible barrier composite material including an exposed low strength barrier component, an internal water sensitive layer, and a water permeable, inextensible, water dispersible support layer. When exposed to aqueous conditions on the barrier side, the composite prevents it from passing through to the other layers. When exposed to aqueous conditions on the opposite side, the commode liner readily disperses and may be disposed of by flushing in a toilet, for example. Examples of barrier layers include polylactic acid. Examples of water sensitive layers include polyvinyl alcohol. Examples of support layers include low stretch grades of toilet tissue.

    • An absorbent article is disclosed having a pair of absorbents positioned adjacent to each other. Each absorbent has a first surface facing the body of a user and a second surface aligned opposite to the first surface. A fluid-impermeable baffle is positioned adjacent to the second surface of each absorbent and extends upward around a portion of the absorbents. A fluid permeable cover is positioned adjacent to the first surface of each absorbent and can be sealed to the baffle. The absorbent article further includes a transfer member for facilitating movement of body fluids from the cover downward and outward to distant areas of the absorbents. The transfer member is positioned above, between and below at least a portion of the absorbents and is coaxially aligned the the longitudinal central axis of the article. The transfer member is also spaced apart from the periphery of the absorbents.
