    • A method for bearer control includes: a first control entity routes a call which is routed from a TDM bearer based network domain or originated by an intra-office POTS subscriber, into an IP bearer based network domain; a second control entity receives the call which is routed back from said IP bearer based network domain and is destined to the TDM bearer based network domain or the intra-office POTS subscriber; when it's determined that a media stream that enters into and exits from said IP bearer based network domain is exchanged on the same media gateway, the first and the second control entities perform a media negotiation during the SIP session to select a same media codec type as the one used on TDM circuits or subscriber lines at two sides, and control a corresponding media gateway to transmit the media stream according to said selected media codec type.

    • The present invention relates to the communication field, disclosing a method of calling between terminals in a packet-based multimedia communication system, by which an H.323 normal-start terminal can call an H.323 terminal through an SIP relay. In the present invention, virtual SDP information is constructed and added in an SIP 200 OK message so that the SIP relay may be continued. An H.245 interaction process is divided so that information such as capabilities, an address, a port number or the like of an H. 323 terminal may be obtained. Then both parties may have the knowledge of each other through a media redirection, and a normal call can thus be established. Alternatively, the specific SDP information for carrying H.245 address information of the called H. 323 terminal is identified by specific coding/decoding information, and sent to the calling H. 323 terminal through the SIP relay. Both of the parties can establish a media communication through a negotiation.
