    • A health care system using a mobile phone includes the mobile phone which has sensors attached thereto, stores a biological signal measured by the sensors, and transmits the stored biological signal during a phone call; and a health care server which receives the biological signals from the mobile phone, analyzes the received biological signal to extract a characteristic value, generates health condition information of a user based on the extracted characteristic value, and transmits the generated information to the mobile phone. Further, a health care method using a mobile phone includes determining whether a physical body comes into contact with the sensors; measuring the biological signal with the sensors when the physical body comes into contact with the sensors; extracting a characteristic value from the biological signal; transmitting the characteristic value to the server; and generating the health condition information to transmit it to the mobile phone.

    • A multimedia service apparatus and method for multimedia service providers outside home to UPnP devices inside home using a home gateway and a service gateway platform is provided. In the multimedia service apparatus and method, the home gateway and the service gateway platform such as an open service gateway initiative (OSGi) service platform are used inside a home so that the multimedia service providers outside home can provide a multimedia content on a home network to a universal plug and play (UPnP) audio/video (AV) MediaRenderer following a UPnP AV structure based on UPnP, to reproduce or store the multimedia content in a UPnP AV MediaServer. The multimedia service apparatus includes: a UPnP AV (audio/video) device connected to a home network by the multimedia service provider of an external network; and a gateway device providing a multimedia service to the UPnP AV device using the service gateway platform.

    • A biological signal measuring apparatus includes a first biological signal measuring sensor attached to an earphone used for a mobile phone; and a biological signal receiver for receiving a biological signal from the first biological signal measuring sensor to thereby generate first raw data. The apparatus may further include a second biological signal measuring sensor attached to one of the mobile phone and an adaptor connected to the mobile phone, wherein the biological signal receiver receives a biological signal from the second biological signal measuring sensor to thereby generate second raw data. The apparatus is provided with a controller for detecting whether the mobile phone is used, wherein the controller drives the first and the second biological signal measuring sensor to measure the biological signal when the mobile phone is being used, and stops measuring the biological signals when the use of the mobile phone is finished.

    • Potable multimedia terminal which is small and consumes low power, can process a large quantity of multimedia data such as video and audio data. Portable multimedia data input/output processor can be made smaller by using a pen as an input device and can also process a large quantity of multimedia data at a high speed by adopting a PCI bus as a local bus of a system. To retrieve, compress, and decompress multimedia data, main components of this portable multimedia data input/output processor are comprised of audio codec for compressing and decompressing audio data, video codec controller for compressing and decompressing video data, and multimedia processor for transmitting audio data to wireless communication controller and video data to video codec controller and to graphic processor. The method for retrieving multimedia data includes steps of receiving data, de-interleaving received data into audio, video, and graphic data, decompressing the data, and outputting the data to output device. The method for compressing data includes steps of inputting video data to video codec controller, compressing video and audio data at video codec controller and audio codec, interleaving the compressed data, and transmitting them to a remote system. The steps to decompress data are in reverse to the steps to compress data.
