    • A coax connector module comprising a housing accommodating electrically conducting coax contact elements. Each contact element having a contact side in the form of a coaxial inner and outer contact part, and a connecting side in the form of an electrical terminal and in electrically conducting casing surrounding the terminal in an electrically insulating manner. The electrical terminal being connected to the inner contact part and having a connecting end, and the casing being connected to the outer contact part and having at least one connecting end, for mounting on a printed circuit board. The casing being constructed from walls of sheet metal or a machined block of metal. To reduce the pitch distance between the respective connecting ends of adjacent casings, one or more of the walls of adjacently situated casings can be of integral or partially common construction.

    • An electrical connector element comprises a body of electrically insulating material having contact holes that are provided with an electrical conductive contact element, and the contact holes arranged in at least two columns and at least two rows, the columns having a longitudinal direction; and shielding elements of electrically conductive plate material being disposed in the body. The shielding elements are shaped and arranged so that at least two shielding elements are positioned such that a select number of neighboring contact elements are always entirely shielded from each other by parts of one of the at least two shielding elements. The at least two shielding elements are shaped and arranged within one column in such a way that an open portion of each shielding element is not adjacent to an open portion of a neighboring shielding element. At least one of the shielding elements is adapted to be electrically coupled with a ground contact member of a mating connector. At least the one of the at least two shielding elements comprises an integral resilient contact member for contacting the ground contact member of the mating connector. The resilient contact member is provided with a generally curved contact surface near its end.

    • A switch assembly is provided for mounting on a circuit board and for receiving a coax connector plug that opens the switch and connects the central coax plug element to one of the switch contacts, which enables the use of a plug (100) without a long projecting center contact element (102) and which enables many degrees of misalignment between the plug and switch. The switch (10) includes a housing (11) with an exposed upper face (22) having an entrance (24) for receiving the connector plug. First and second contacts (12, 14) are mounted on the housing, with the first contact including a resilient beam (18) biased up against the second contact but deflectable downwardly out of engagement with the second contact. An electrically conductive projection (19) projects upward at least partially through an opening (26) at the bottom entrance, so the center contact element of the plug does not have to project deeply through the opening in order to operate the switch and electrically connect to the beam. The entrance is tapered and has electrically conductive entrance walls. The outer element (106) of the connector plug preferably has a largely spherical front end, to make contact with the entrance tapered surface along a circular band (130) when fully pushed down into the entrance, despite many degrees (A) of misalignment of the axis (122) of the entrance with the axis (110) of the plug.
